Blood Chit - Silk US WW2

Picked this up today at the local show. Not your typical printed versions. This is silk and hand embroidered with cotton or wool type thread. Excellent condition and just a little fading.

While not clearly evident in the photos, this was framed many years ago. The frame has a nice musty smell to it and the exterior glass is covered with mold spots. This probably hung on a basement wall of a vets home for a very long time.

Could easily clean off the mold spots on the glass, but I am going to leave it as is.

Enjoy!

Michael

HSRAC Mk1

Morning everyone,
here is the last addition to my collection, it is a Steel Helmet RAC Mk1, in the version with the steel edge cover, and shell painted in khaki smooth colour, inside and outside.
The liner is intact but the rubber cross is now crystallized and very fragile.
The liner maker’s mark no longer visible but only the size, but I have removed it and in the back it is marked:
CCL
11
1943
The chinstrap is a Mk3 pattern.
On one side it is flashed, at first it was painted a red square and then covered by a green square, I’m not a flash expert, but surely some of you will be able to help me in identifying.
It seemed interesting to me to share.

Thanks for looking!:)
Roberto

Family Sword

Just looking for the makers of this sword.
I believe it’s a 1827 Pattern Rifle Regiment Officers Sword.
Issued to the Sydney Mines Volunteers in 1850’s blade is misspelled with Sidney Volunteers. It’s always been in my family, I have his hat, some military books and his spyglass. I have put the hat on Loan to a local military museum.
Thanks for looking.1115559111556011155611115562

update - stolen collection

Here is a part from a mail from mr. Gillain I got this afternoon about the situation.
I think it is needed to have patience at this moment and allow him to get done
what needs to be done. We must respect that:

I ask you all to understand what is going on at this moment!
Priority now is inquiry;
investigators have closed the first step before sending results to the national Belgian police, in Liège and Brussels. Now the matter starts to be international;

I have to check all items, one per one, in my files to be sure of those stolen (as quite some was sold just before in the last months). I have 5060 items to check;
I am meeting Webmasters and graphics to realize a Website where I will be able to show all my (stolen) interesting or rare items. I try to find all of what has been stolen in my……100.000 pictures-files;

be patient and tell contacts and forums it takes lots of research and energy before all is done;

I hope the collectors-world altogether, will help me to find my collection…
Philippe Gillain
