RAD & BDM Album Pick Up

Hello…

Hope you are all well. I placed these 2 albums below into my collection this past week. I have loaded many images onto my collection website.

Question What are our plans for our collections?

Since the recent departure ( demise ) of some of our members I was thinking something we all do but rarely speak of - that is, what are our plans for our "worldly possessions" once we pass on? Last thread I did like this, I asked about what WE do once we leave here but this time I want to discuss those we leave behind - that’s ALSO the function of a forum..

No-one wants their family pestered by the vultures ( and lets not pussy-foot about it, the ambulance chasers are out there ) and if the "WW2 junk" is to be moved on, we need to ensure that our loved ones are not ripped off in the disposal of the collection. Yes it would be nice to think ALL our partners would cherish it as a reminder of us but lets be frank - that is the minority of us ( and lucky you if you are )

I for one have a notebook with "rough" valuations for typical items but I know my wife really wouldn’t have a clue what to do with most of the stuff. I hope I can gradually move it on before it becomes her burden…. but then I don’t plan on dying any time soon.:o(

What do you all plan for, eh? …. or is it the elephant in the room we don’t want to talk about?

Regards, Dan ( tackling the tough issues since 2009 )

Soldier Decorations

I’m trying to find out as much as I can about my grandfather and his time in the war. I just received his file from MOD and am very much looking forward to translating it!

I have his demobilization form which has the following listed for decorations.

1129157

I also have two of his original bars (pretty sure these are the only ones he had).

Image.jpg

I know some of the medals like the Monte Cassino cross, but not sure why there are two ribbons for it on his bars. I’m hoping that someone might be able to help me figure out what everything is that’s listed in his decorations and what else he might have received over the years.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Chris

Bandenkampfabzeichen…. Is it genuine?

hi, any thoughts on this Bandenkampfabzeichen? Came accross it recently and am unsure if its the real deal. I understand its unlikely to be good as they rare. Thanks
