A new Erkennungsmarke for my collection

I was able to add this Erkennungsmarke to my collection.
1 Batterie Artillery Regiment 16.
From what I can gather, by July 1942 renamed Panzer Artillery Regiment 16.
Destroyed at Stalingrad I believe.

Need help! Looking for some help on finding information about my late grandfather

I’ve currently come to a dead end on the research of my grandfather. I’ve been trying to find military information and family info for years now and it seems I cannot go any further.

If someone out there can help with the military information, it would be amazing.

He is Kazimierz Orlita, born 18th of June, 1923 Poland.
My father told me he served as a 1st engineer, enlisting at 15 or 16 to fight for Poland.
He served for 4 years possibly, and when the war was over he went to the UK.

I’m happy to answer any questions if anyone’s interested.

New early Heer dagger variation from Puma

Gentlemen, I have been researching this Puma variation for a few years now, waiting for enough examples to surface. I have recently found my third example in this study that adhere to the same exact fittings and scabbard. I own two of the three examples that I will show here, all having light metal fittings, tapered tangs and slant grips.
I propose that this was Puma’s first attempt to produce a lighter dagger that would not be as cumbersome as the heavy brass based Puma 1st. Perhaps before the aluminum examples were produced? I base this on the presence of a slant grip on all examples found so far, as only a lesser seen amount of aluminums are found with slant grips. One of my examples shows significant plating lifting, showing that the plating process was not perfected and Puma was still struggling with plating the new zinc alloy fittings.
The guards used are the Pack light weight (zinc alloy or pot metal) type seen on the Holler 2nd.. as you will see in the pictures they are hand enhanced on the head, chest and wreath. The pommel is also very similar and has a good bit of hand enhancement. The blades are initial quality, tapered tang and bare the early small diamond MM used on the type 1. The scabbard is a magnetic base example with bands that are hand worked with the casting seams covered with impressed acorns (just like the Puma 1st!, see the pic) and double flathead screws very much like the type 1 but the heads of the screws are ever so slightly smaller diameter.
I would like to name this variation the "Puma 2nd", Please give feedback and opinions, If you have an example please show it! I am including a pic of a third example from the Raleigh NC show that I examined and it was identicle to my two, so there is another out there that may be in your collecting hands

Best, Kevin.

A display of U-boat Badges (WWI & WWII)

Hello,
I thought it might be nice to show how my early U-boat War Badges look while displayed on the tunic.

1st Badge: Imperial version by Walter Schott (probable manufacturer as well)
2nd Badge: Type I U-boat War Badge by Schwerin Berlin
3rd Badge: Type II U-boat by C.E. Juncker Berlin
4th Badge: U-boat War Badge (Otto Schickle design) with rare L/18 stamp (B.H. Mayer)
5th Badge: U-boat War Badge (Otto Schickle design) attributed possibly to Zimmermann (note this version has all four arms of the swastika cut out).

Regards,
Jody

Some Luftwaffe visor caps and other things….

Just put a few of my visor caps into a more organised display, hope you guys like them….

Cheers

Bob

Original or fake? SS dagger RZM M7/36

Hello everyone!

This is my first thread, so I hope you are not too strict with me. English is not my mother tongue…

I have a few questions about a SS dagger that is to become the property of our community of heirs as part of an inheritance. It was found in a safe. From the sparse tradition of family history, it is known that the deceased’s father was said to have been with the Waffen SS, but I don’t know, if he really was…

Now for the dagger itself:
It looks like a very well preserved SS dagger (probably a newer model from the 1940s) with the RZM identifier M7 / 36 and the clearly recognizable etching "Meine Ehre heißt Treue" on the blade. I didn’t find any punches on the crossguard. The handle is firmly and precisely connected to the knife or the crossguard, the SS pastille and the eagle are just as tight and fit in the designated places. Between the crossguard and the scabbard, a thin bump leather is attached to the blade. The knife sheath is black, slightly mat on one side (probably the front) than on the other. The fittings are each fastened with 2 screws, the handle and fittings seem to be in their original, unopened condition, and the metal plate is also in perfect condition.

Unfortunately, I cannot say anything about the materials used and would be grateful for any reasonable assumption.

I am also not sure about the market or collector value of such daggers. I would therefore also be very indebted to you through a professional assessment.

In the course of the housing dissolution by the community of heirs, I "quickly" took some pictures, after this the dagger was put back in the safe until the authenticity is determined (hopefully by you ;)). Then we will see, what we will do next. I hope the pictures are good enough to form an opinion, but I would also understand if you cannot make an exact assessment with them.

With kind regards and the hope for a meaningful remote diagnosis,

Matt
