These are current US army issue. Sig received some of the early issues pistols back for refinishing and opted to replace them instead and sell about 3000 pistols to the public. I was lucky enough to get one. The 1st 5000 or so were considered trials pistols with most going to the 101st or 82nd AB. Some have rack numbers painted on them and are well used, others lime mice are in almost unissued condition. Target is the 1st two mags I shot with it. Its a good shooting pistol. Came with one 17 and two 21 end mags.
I think these will be worth quite a bit one day.
Hello my friends. My name is GermLeprechaun. I am from Florida, but my roots are German, Irish, and Polish, hence the name GermLeprechaun, short for German Leprechaun. I am an art student at Harvard University, hopefully graduating apart of the Class of 2023. My hobbies range from History and Wars to the world of collecting and creating fine art. I have severe ADHD and ADD (combined type). After my graduation, I plan to follow my grandfather, who was in the 1st Cavalry Division of the U.S. Army. I would like to go to OCS and follow him into the 1st Cav., and have a career in the army, with a side hobby of military collecting and creating art. I am so in love with the division that I plan to have my first or second tattoo being the shoulder sleeve insignia. My specialty is that of German Insignia and American uniforms especially, but Im pretty knowledgeable in all sorts of American militaria. This is Sohlberg m17 helmet either for Imperial Russian army or for Finnish army, correct ?
But can someone tell me what is this decal on both sides of the helmet ?
It looks like there might have been third color also, but it has fainted away or something ?
There are no stamps other than 54 in a circle (size?) and self made swastika.
