Question US M1 Helmet Shell

Hi to all.,

I need your help… I bought this US M1 shell, with front seam, that has the number 551C, and would like to know if it is original from the time of WW2, and what the production year and what the US manufacturer?

Best Regards.,

Innertube bands

It’s not the first time I’ve asked a bizarre question on here, but really could use some advice.
I have 4 British m76 lightweight para helmets ( one of which is a nice early smooth version with the wight/cream leather ) and I would really like to finish them off with an inner tube band.
The problem being I have absolutely no idea of the size inner tube needed for the ‘contract’.
I’ve had a swift look on line that has left me hopelessly baffled!
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated from the more technically minded folks out there!

Recently Acquired French Helmet

Hello all,

I picked this up from as part of a larger bundle of items the other day. I didn’t look at it too much at the time, I merely saw a French helmet and put it in my pile. However when I got it home I noticed that’s it had a few coats of paint through its life which are now poking through. It appears there’s some tan and some green. Any thoughts on the indications these colors may have meant through this helmets life?
Thank you and warm wishes.

3 New Seitengewehr 98/05’s For My Collection

Hello all,

I picked these up the other day and I’m wondering if anyone has any thoughts. I’ve heard that the numbers and letters present on the hand guard of the saw-back may refer to a unit however I’m unsure.

+The saw-back is dated to 1906 and manufactured by Erfurt. Appears to say "E. 13. 8L." on the hand guard.
+The bayonet with the reproduction frog doesn’t appear to have any visible date. It was manufactured by Frister & Rossman however the blade also carried the JA Henckels twins stamp.
+The third bayonet carries the date of 1917 and was manufactured by Carl Eickhorn.

Thank you for your wisdom and warmest wishes.
