Adolf Hitler platz street sign from Landschut(Documented), Heinrich Himmler’s child hood home. Dreifaltigkeitsplatz 1 1/2 was his home, my sign is 29 just up the street… both # are seen on old period map( I circled them). Dreifaltigkeitsplatz was renamed AH platz during the 12 year Reich.

1) = Adolf-Hitler-Platz, the Dreifaltigkeitsplatz’ new name during the Third Reich era
2) = The local NSDAP headquarters
3) = The local DAF headquarters
4) = The church of St. Martin’s, This church is interesting for two facts: Its steeple is the world’s tallest brick construction and it has a stained-glass window featuring Hitler and Goebbels (Created after the war to replace the original window destroyed late in the war. The faces of Hitler and Goebbels were given to two torturers in a scene depicting the persecution of a martyr whose name keeps eluding me.)
5) = Nahensteig. According to the SS’ 1937 address list, location of the headquarters of the 31st SS-Standarte. (Nahensteig 182, 2nd floor)
Interestingly, Landshut’s local address book informs us that in medieval times, that street was located in the Jewish quarter of town, which is why its name is name is actually derived from the Hebrew word nahar (= brook). One wonders how many Standarte members were aware of that particular bit of trivia…
6) = Städtisches Krankenhaus (Municipal Hospital), where SS physician Dr. Karl Gebhardt worked for a while from the autumn of 1922 onwards. (He had known Heinrich Himmler from school)

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could post some photos of the chin strap arraignment for I’ve been told is an ssh40 motorised unit helmet.
It is the leather four point chin strap type.
I have the helmet and need to fit the chin strap as they came seperated.
Any help would be most appreciated.

I often hear questions about the lack of available reference books on the Iron Cross, particularly the Iron Cross 2nd class. I just pre-ordered my Copy of the new Iron Cross 2nd Class reference book by Mario Alt and Dietrich Maertz. It is available on Sascha Weber’s website at www.Militariafachbuch.com

For those where money is a bigger concern, there is the older book "Das Eiserne Kreuz 1939 Zweite Klasse" by Mario Alt, it is quite inexpensive compared to most reference books.

For those new to this hobby and looking for a good way to get Iron Cross reference books without wasting money, a good combination is the above mentioned book by Mario Alt, combined with "The Iron Cross 1st Class" by Dietrich Maertz and George Stimson. Studying these two books will give the reader a solid reference work of the majority of Iron Crosses. There are some other, very expensive books out there, but some are not worth the money. I have wasted quite a bit of money on lousy reference books.

Many people complain about the insane prices of reference books, but if you go to the actual websites, such as www.Militariafachbuch.com or bdpublish.com the prices are much more reasonable.
On Ebay or Amazon many of the reference books sell for 2 or 3 times the price that the publisher sells them at.
