My other type 56

The same as the other, but in much better condition! Arsenal 26 , and the codes make it a 1964 manufacture.

German helmets made into pots and pans

I’ve recently watched some very interesting videos about everyday life in Germany in the immediate aftermath of WW2.

These screenshots are from a film which shows the process of converting German helmets into pots and pans.

Remarkable they captured this on film. The whole video can be viewed on Youtube at the link below. The feature in question is at 10:24. I wonder how many were ‘lost’ in this way?

In addition to that, this next screenshot shows civilians sifting through a pile of discarded German helmets. Perhaps removing some of the leather lining/chinstraps?

US AEF Pilot Grouping in Mint Condition

Courtesy of another cross-town friend, this is a grouping belonging to a WWI pilot who was being trained in France to fly British AVRO and French Nieuport biplanes when the Armistice was signed. As you will see, the condition is exceptional. As he stated, "I’ve been looking for a near mint Model 1912 Officer’s service cap for a long while. I just never thought it would come with a matching Army Air Service tunic."
Along with what you don’t see in the photos are also his riding pants, leather flying boots, Flying helmet with French goggles, oversees cap, officer’s manual, photos, orders and discharge documents.

First photo includes personal items including his AEF officer’s I.D. card and his foot locker stencil.
Second Photo shows him in 1963 wearing the same tunic during Armed Forces Day at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base.
Third photo is a "temporary display" including his flying gauntlets, silk scarf, goggles, converted British overseas cap and French binoculars engraved with "Royal Air Force" and a biplane.
