He was a gunner on an Avenger. After flying over the second flag raising on Iwo Jima (You can see his plane on the color video about 2 ‘clock once flag is raised. It flies by fast). The pilot landed the plane on the island. My grandfather recovered the rifle from the deck. It is in nearly perfect condition. All original and has not been fired since WWII.
Hope all had a good weekend. Took some updated photos of my Zelt with the M44 Assault Pack. In 1944 they replaced the the A-frame & Bag system. Modified Artillery rucksacks. This one is near mint with the RBnr Number pretty clean yet. The zelt has all the buttons and ropes still in place. Love Field Gear! Does anyone have any period photos late war of them being worn they would like to share? Feel free.

Great pictures of the SS fighting in the west. Excellent condition. And it came from a very special library too. Missing dustcover. Would like to find an original dustcover.
I am bidding on this item on ebay. I realize it’s most likely not a railway eagle, but maybe something hung on a wall during the war? How much shou[ATTACH=CONFIG]1220630[/ATTACH][ATTACH=CONFIG]1220631[/ATTACH]ld I be willing to shell out for this? They don’t want to offend anyone, so they blocked the swastika. It has poor casting and I only see one place to hang it. Even if it’s a postwar piece, it’s still neat, but not sure what I should pay
Another tank badge pick up. The sharpness of the detail and some wear caught my eye. Dealer told me it was a bronze badge. I have a hard time discerning the silver and bronze finishes. Wondering what board thinks. At this time no clue on maker. I feel badge is real but you never know.
