Need help! 1914 Eisernes Kreuz 2 Klasse Ring Stamped 800
This is my second purchase this week. It has a ring stamp of 800. I have been looking on the forum lists for 800 and it appears that this is a silber content mark, if I’m correct on that and please feel free to advise me on anything Imperial EK related.
I have found several makers with 800 in their maker mark and would like a little help.
Could the kind Imperial EK experts help me with the identification of this one. I really want to learn this identification process so the question really is this. Would it be a good place to start by comparing this core with other known 800 marked EK2’s such as CD800 or K800 or HB800 or is it just a case of looking at every makers core.
It would be so easy just to ask ‘who made this’ but I am now hooked on these and want to expand my knowledge. I know that this could take some time and will be painstaking but I really want to give it a go. I did have a quick look at a CD800 this morning but to me the core just didn’t add up, the acorns on the reverse didn’t match, neither did the oak leaves or the number 3 in the date. So difficult this process is. I hope all this makes sense and I really do want to know the maker of this cross.
Looking at the cross it has a beautiful sand cast core which are my favourite. Wilko
