8th AAF POW grouping

Hello folks,

Here is one of my favorites. From the 384th Phil..

This gentleman wrote a short book following the war but also did several recorded interviews that can be seen on Youtube. The book goes into more detail but the videos are very interesting as well.

The movie "The Great Escape"..he was there.

I do not own some of these items (dog tags) but was able to obtain pictures of them from the internet. I have the uniforms and paperwork.

These videos are very interesting..amazing history really.

Helmet Translation and Maker Identification

Hello, I’ve had this helmet for about 12-13 years and I’ve never known what the four characters on the inside front rim said, can someone please help? The top two pictures are the same, just inverted since I don’t know which way to read it.

Also I can’t seem to find a real maker’s mark on the other end, just an incomplete triangle and the number 1. Any assistance with that would be appreciated as well.

Thanks in advance,

Kevin Robinson

Minensucher - Schwerin

Folks,

I’d like to present to you my 1st pickup this year (well, technically my 3rd but one was a present and the other is still going through customs).
This is my early to mid-war Schwerin Minesweeper badge. I have to say i’m really pleased with it. I think that some badges age well and can look good in any condition, but the Minesweeper badge benefits from being in good condition.
It’s my first KM badge - i expect not for too long though.

I’ve attached the dealer photos as they were very good, but also my own photo which i think shows the colour in a true light.

Nick
