First post here. Been a collector of ww2 military items ranging from helmets to uniforms and propaganda posters. My latest acquisition is what brought me to this amazing forum.

My uncle gave me a 120/35 SS dagger that he acquired from a ww2 vet many many many years ago. It is definitely not a show piece. the bottom crossguard is loose, the pummel nut appears to be untouched and is very tight.The eagle is lifting from the bottom and of course the blade is very rusty. But from what I can tell, this knife all matches and is consistent with being all original. It also has the four word phrase etched into the blade.

I’m looking for advice on the knife as far as trying to clean it up. I know I can’t expect a show sign here, but is there thing I can do to clean the blade and nickel guards up? A google search mentioned soaking the blade in vinegar, but I don’t want to destroy the knife. I’m open to your more experienced ideas, as I don’t want the knife to further deteriorate. Any idea what a knife in this shape is worth? Not that I want to sell it, but any idea would be nice. There is no scabbard unfortunately.

I’ve had this for a number of year and don’t think I’ve ever posted it as I couldn’t find any photos. So pulled it out and took a few quick shots this evening

Its a WW2 2nd Lt Army Engineer/Sapper visor made by S.A. La Classica Abbigliamento Militare (Classical Military Clothing), Torino.

I really like the look of it as the stiffener was removed to give it that floppy look.

I don’t profess to know much about Italian visors but I think it is the later "Imperial" style with a more German style sharper angled brim and higher crown which was introduced around 1939.

Unfortunately it is missing the Unit number but if you look closely at the photo you can see the outline of a number. Not sure what it is? Any thoughts? 8, 9, 3?

Description: For sale is an untouched, Eickhorn FULL Röhm SA dagger. I won’t drag on about the history of these rare pieces, but suffice it to say the owning such a dagger in the period would have subjected one to sever penalization…..

This dagger is a beauty with the untouched look we all love. The guards have toned to a nice muted silver from the years of patina. The lower reverse guard is marked “WF” for Westfallen. The grip is a typical eickhorn shape with the large flat front faces, the upper obverse holding a perfect (and slightly patinated) SA rune button. The grip fits these guards unbelievably well as eickhorn’s fits were not always as great as you would expect (even on Himmler SS honor daggers!). The grip eagle also has a great patina and maintains all of its detail. The blade shows some age in the form of graying, and these pictures (most) were taken outside to really highlight this age so there are no surprises. This full length, unsharpened, untouched blade also has all of the burnishing to the motto and the inscription on the reverse. The result is a rarely maintained full contrast between the dark motto and honor inscription and the light polished blade. The pictures really don’t do this thing justice, but I think you get the idea. The blade sports the smooth-tail variety of the Eickhorn maker mark (being the smaller mark used on Röhm and Himmler pieces). The scabbard shows age in the form of some oxidation, but still mantains its brown color. The fittings match the hilt fittings’ patina and look just great without any damage. All the screws are present and untampered.

Hi all. I’m curious if anyone has ever come upon RAD Leader Daggers or EM Hewers without maker’s marks at all (completely void of makers marks)? If so, is there a known maker they’re attributed to?

I like this one better than the 6 inch ,,bought 4 guns for one price,thought I better get them while the gettin was good,price was right,dont think I will be sorry.This one has the original shipping box.

2 look like oak leaves,then double bar pin,2 ZD shields,one enamel RM pin,2 rank bars,2 tiny gold yoke bars,oak leaf pin back and anchor pin.Any info appreciated,ww2?

Looks like a plus side one side has a crown. Under the crown says the letters FW then under that 3 leaves under it and 1813 under the leaves. On the other side a crown a giant W in the middle and 1914 under the W.

Hello, is this the same person on both photos?
Left is Konteradmiral Hans-Hermann Graf von Schweinitz und Krain Freiherr von Kauder.
I want to know if it is also him on the right photo?
