Prevalence of fake Good Luck Flags

How common are Good Luck Flags that are post WW2 fakes? I wonder if I am now over-concerned.

Looked at one on Sunday but decided not to buy. At first glance it looked attractive, it had a few small drawings that were appealing. One was a little girl’s head with typical pudding bowl hairstyle, and another a soldier’s head and shoulders. I did wonder about these though. I think the key thing that put me off was that I could see in one of the ’signature’ strings mama and papa written in katakana, which just didn’t seem right for WW2.

Cheers,
Tony

GPR casualty Arnhem 17th- 23rd September 1944

As we are in the anniversary period of this famous battle I though I would post up some images of my only piece of related material.

The flying logbook to a AAC Sgt 2nd pilot on a Horsa from ‘E’ Sqdn GPR who was KIA on the Saturday the 23rd Sept outside the Hartenstein hotel…. It was his first operational sortie having qualified for 2nd pilot duties on 1st June 1944.

Original image of wooden burial cross was in black and white … but a colour enhancement was carried out by a mate on an RAF forum.

On the photograph of the Northampton’s Harry is 5th from the right on the 2nd row from the front.

SGT Harry Sharp was a member of 2 Wing, E Sqn, 11th Flight. His chalk number was 229 and he flew in elements of the 7th KOSB, MMG Pl or Anti-Tank Guns. Chalk 229 force landed in the UK on the 17th Sept (first lift) and they went the second day. He was KIA in heavy fighting IVO Hartenstein. 21 year old Harry was killed defending the Oosterbeek perimeter. His first grave was on HOOFDLAAN near HOUSE SONNENBERG.

Gary

P38 Police Holster

Hello.

Here is an unissued Police holster. I believe these are Russian capture and came in from the Ukraine some years ago. This is the more common one without the ‘B’ in the chest of the eagle and no swastika either. Jonathan.
