British pocket knife

Hi All,

Just picked up this really nice example of a british pocket knife dated 1941.
Its a Humphrey radiant blade (whatever significance that has). Ive read these types were used by the navy but the ones like this with the spike were used by the army.

Any more info would be great

SS buckle.

Hello, i am wondering if you can help me out again guys, thinking of buying this SS belt buckle. Would just like some conformation to its authenticity or lack-of.
Can anyone suggest any reference books for SS insignia other than the beaver and Angloma one.
Many thanks1102304110230411023041102304

World War Two Victory medal.

Another of the pieces picked up yesterday.
A Word War Two Victory medal from the end of the war, as evidenced by it’s hanger.
Thanks for looking!

Question Any thoughts on this Type 90 Japanese Army Helmet?

Saw this one several days ago and it looks good to me; however, I have had bad luck with Type 90s in the past. The patina of the paint and the rust like color in the interior seem to be good signs. The chinstrap and liner also look good to me. The seller states that the liner is "very stiff", which is also a good sign of age. He does say that he believes the liner and chinstrap to be reproductions/replacements, perhaps because of their good condition? However, they seem to me to match the rest of the helmet. There are a few concerns I have. First, I am worried that the paint might be post war, as was true with the last Japanese helmet I bought. Second, the bottom of the liner seems suspiciously clean. Is that due to the camera flash? I am a novice when it comes to these so any help would be much appreciated!

Friesch to Klara: 17th August 1944

Hello folks.

Yet another piece of correspondence pertaining to the same soldier. This is the latest-dated one I’ve acquired so far.
The first thing I noted about this one was how ‘rough’ it looks. The handwriting on the envelope is nowhere near as intricate as in previous letters. Almost as if Friesch penned this one in a hurry or under duress. A little over a month after the dawn of Operation Overlord, it should be no surprise that he would be so stressed.
There are individual words I’ve been able to pick out, most notably the name ‘Bad Bill’ written in English just under halfway down the first page. Also a date, 1928. As ever, the majority of the handwriting is lost on me.
When all is said and done, this will be the second latest piece of correspondence I have regarding this soldier. Another is currently up for bidding, dated March 1945. As it is so near to the close of the War in Europe, I feel it must contain information as to Friesch’s fate, and as such I’ll fight tooth and nail to win it.

Best regards, as always. B.B.

Gravity Knife help please

I bought this from a member on WAF last week. I bought as an original and now questioning the authenticity. I have gone through many threads and photos which lead me to believe reproduction. The bring back papers could have been for any paratrooper knife and not necessarily for this one.
The logo looks good to me, but this is my first gravity knife. Take the tape of or not? Tough question. I would like to leave if was done period. The tape looks old but not sure if to remove or what it is covering up. There does not appear to be any cracks in the grips to cover. It does not appear to lock up properly as in it does not lock when fully extended. There is not a 5 in the drooped eagle as normally seen.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
John
