Restoring the Wirlwind Part 2

Well here are a few more photos of the work going on at the Borden Wirlwind, I took these a couple of weeks ago.
This morning I recived more photos of it with the turret off as this was done this past weekend, and as soon as I can figure out how to get those photos from my email, I will post them

In these photos you can see the gun mount has been removed.

Polishboys polish white cross collection

POLISH WHITE CROSS

Going thru my medals and badges collection I discovered a lone enamelled pin that was marked “Polish White Cross” I had never heard of the organization. Until I stumbled upon a similar pin being sold on the internet. Apparently PWC existed during WW1 in France and provided aid and hospital services to General Haller’s army and others.
I coud not find any information regarding her volunteers, but assume they came from America together with Polish emigres in other countries.
The organization similar to our American Red Cross was founded in October 1917 by Helena Paderewska, the wife of famous pianist Ignacy Paderewski who was also involved with the Polish Government.
Pictures of the Red Banner and Nurse are from the internet.

U.S. Army Decorations Awarded to Red Army Personnel in World War II

Hello,

I am not sure if there already exists a similar topic on this forum. But here it goes. Might be interesting for you.
Please, add more material to the thread.

Cavalier of US Legion of Merits order, degree Commander, Soviet Army Lt. General Vladimir Stepanovich KUZNETSOV (1898-1979). He was a commander of the 40 Rifle Corps.

Unfortunately I couldn’t locate his portrait with his US decoration on… But I have something interesting too.
The memorandum sent from HQ of US XIII Corps to their Soviet counterparts explaining the award procedure and information request to prepare citations for the Soviet Army personnel from soviet 40 Rifle Corps (17 may 1945).
It is interesting as it sheds more light on the formal process for such inter-nation awards.

Prior to this on 16 May, Lt.Gen. KUZNETSOV was to diner with the commander of 102d Rifle Division Mj.Gen Frank. A. Keating.
