I am considering purchasing this helmet, but am wondering whether it is a completely authentic german stahlhelm, as the seller claims. It is a Quist m40 helmet, with the size stamping on the back of the brim, and batch number on the side. I read somewhere that it was first after 1943 that Quist started stamping the size of the helmet on the back, but the batch number was also stamped on the back right above the size. On this the size and batch number are two different places, is this a source of concern?
In addition, the name of the owner is etched in the helmet, not painted on as one can see on many other helmets.

Are the rust pits (there are not very many, but certainly some) a sign that it has been laying in the ground for a number of years, and later repainted?

Would be very grateful for any thoughts on the matter!

I bought this for 20€, so real or fake doesn’t exactly matter, but am very curious. Nice and heavy 71 grams. It looks like copper underneath a zinc plating (especially on the skull’s forehead and upper lip), but am not sure. Stamped R.Z.M. M34/2 with an SS logo mostly removed underneath the upper edge. I found a lot of fakes of this one in particular, but none that I found resembled this one. If it is fake, I’d still like to know the maker - really nice quality to it. The man I bought it from wasn’t trying to sell it wasn’t trying sell it as genuine or fake, just a belt buckle.

I picked this up OLDENBURG FREDERICK AUGUST IRON CROSS 1st CLASS so the collector told me and I wanted to know are these copy’s I don’t see to many of these so I had to get it for my collection. I seen the very same one but it was all silver with white enamel it had markers marks on the back, but mine has nothing so maybe someone can let me know if I have a copy or a fake. I hope I posted some close up photo’s, thank you
