Question Krim campaign shield for review - Thanks as always for your time and wisdom!

Hey all,

This shield is part of that big haul, and I’m slowly going through it all, photographing, researching and (hopefully) authenticating. In my efforts to become conversant with so many different aspects of TR collecting, I’ve found that there are specialists within each sub-culture of collecting: One person is very knowledgeable about edged weapons, but doesn’t know much about insignia and vice versa.

Because there were so many pieces of varying types in the haul, I am trying to cram a bunch of minutia in a short period of time. That said, I have done some research on this shield (and the two others I also bought) and it seems to have some of the qualities that make it authentic, most notably the lines in the eagle’s wings and the correct cut/attachment method on the prongs.

Gylling Hansen NSU knife

Hi guys,
Strictly not HJ :o but I think you will find it interesting anyway cool militaria
Yesterday I got this IMO very rare knife .
It is a Danish imported NSU (National socialistisk ungdom) National socialist youth knife. The Danish equivalent to HJ !
As you can see it’s basically a HJ knife, but it does not carry the HJ badge on the handle !
It was imported by the company Gylling Hansen in Copenhagen, and is stamped with their GY logo and Garanti Solingen. There is a second mark on the blade Nr. 7/2 A2, presumably a unit stamp
Note the difference on the handle slabs ! One has bigger checkers than the other , probably because of the missing HJ badge . This is not the only one with different slabs, and there are no signs of alterations cool militaria
Enjoy !

Waiting on a Deutscher Reichs Ausschuss Badge…..

A DRA badge coming in the mail soon. Not a huge deal
I know, but it will make a great companion to the
DRL which I’ve had for some time. Both were
made by H. Wernstein………

Question post 1915 Imperial German Army Waffenfarben?

Did a search with no joy. The obvious ones were fairly easy to find - arty, inf, special troops - but I was wondering if the hussar regiments had a special color? On one militaria site I saw a dark green backed pair of shoulder boards listed as hussar and on another they had a maroon backed board listed the same. Specifically I was hoping someone would know what either the Leibhussars or the 17 Braunschweig Hussars would wear. I found a color pic of a 17th attila but couldn’t tell other than it looked dark, not red like uhlans. I was thinking it might have been black as a nod to their pre-field grey uniforms, but the photo just wasn’t good enough.

Cheers,

Smokey

German Officer sword fake or real? (Dove Head)

Hi,

I recently acquired this sword. However, this is different than any other Dove Head Sword I have seen.

In question:
1). The Wehrmacht Eagle is CARVED on and NOT embossed like on other officer swords that looks similar (such as the Field Marshall Series)…
2). The Blade is 29.5 inches long (scabbard 30.5 inches), this is a few inches shorter than my "Von Stein" Sword.
3). Theres no Maker Mark anywhere (none on the Blade, and none under/on the Cross-guard or D ring).

Any idea what this is?

Is it AUTHENTIC???

- It is well made (Blade/Handle/Wire etc…), similar quality, and actually heavier (1 lb, 14.6 Ounces) than the Longer "Von Stein" (1 lb, 10 Ounces) Sword….

Thanks!
