Paid valuation service

Have the owners or mods ever considered a " pay for play " section for this site ?

Its my impression your sick of free answers on authenticity or people wanting a value. You could have a section where they donate $5 via paypal to the costs of running the forum in exchange for an easy answer .

Just a thought. Not every collector is going to get super deep in a hobby like a lot of you are. Not sure if easy answer people would be willing to pony up some dough to find out their prospective purchase is junk , but then again $5 spent could save a person hundreds.

Here’s a rather nice mix of original photos.

US M-1917 A1 “Kelly” helmet

Morning everyone,
this helmet M-1917 A1 "Kelly" has just arrived in my collection.
It is interesting because it is not a shell WW1 reconditioned, but of a new production McCord of the late ’30s, heat stamp "A19"; the chinstrap is the one with the second type buckle.
It has certainly had an operational use, as evidenced by the laundry number: G-3100, marked on the leather liner.
The exterior paint is in perfect condition, while the leather liner has dried up and became very fragile.
I think it’s a good example that I wanted to share with you.:D

Regards
Roberto

WWII German Civil Service Yellow Armband - Real or Fake?

Hello fellas
I just purchased this armband. It seems original to me,but I would like your opinion because its in mint condition, that`s why is hard to tell. Also they are so many replicas out there on the market and I am not very familiar with this kind of insignia.
Any comments and opinions are appreciated.

Need help! Most unsual Italian Eastern Front ID

10641751064174

Very interesting Italian dog tag found in the Voronezh area. Seems like the Ministero Della Difesa site doesn’t work anymore but if I remember verifying in the past Augostino was born in California and died in Russia 1/43, unknown location. Would anyone know if it would be possible to find his exact unit or possible family members here in the USA? Based on where it was found I would suspect one of the three Alpini or the Vicenza divisions. I understand there were quite a few proud Italians that went back to the mother country to fight for Mussolini. Too bad he ended up dying for another cause.

Thanks,

Gary
