Operation Totalize Original Canadian Secret Map Normandy

Well I picked this up last weekend, a truly great find…it is now on it’s way to the "Twinzzs" in Normandy
I have known the Twinzzs for many years, and they are scary, one starts a conversation the other finishes it, and their English is OK ( Far better than my French), but to this day I cannot tell one from the other!! No Kidding.
They run one of the best and fair priced Resturants in Normandy in Creully (?) nd they really know the area..they have taken me to many sites where Canadian Soldier carved their names in walls, and as they know I am interested in Roman Histroy, they took me to places very few know, Montgomery Ate at their place, which was then owned by a Grandfather. Their own Property outside the town has the original building used by the Canadian Crop Commander as his HQ, and I have stood in the building that several photos were taken of him in

These Twinzzs are the best, always the greatest when I have gone over there..free grub for me and my friends with me…they do not understand that I eat somewhat differantly, as in I do not like my meat bleeding and crying for help. LOL….. and I do not eat fish or anything else that comes out of water…. ( I know what fish do in water!) LOL

Anyway, these are great guys, with good solid hearts and love the how the Canadians and British liberated them…but never call them French!!! They are True Normans, and the collection they have supports that.

Need help! SS soldbuch Porwolik Auschwitz

Hi

I have a soldbuch to Konrad Porwolik who was a guard at Auschwitz. He is listed on the Auschwitz site and he was tried in 1948 and given three years. His date of birth is correct in the book but is very feint. The photo looks like him on the Auschwitz site.

Monte Cassino Cross recipient

Hi all … new to the forum but I am a member of a few other forums and recognize a few member names.

I am mainly a WW2 RAF collector but had an interest in a little framed group of badges and a monte cassino cross that a friend’s father was given back in the 1980’s.

My own grandfather was in the RASC as part of the 8th Army and after seeing action in N.Africa was over in Italy where he was wounded at Monte Cassino.

I will post up a photo of the badges and cross when I have taken them out of the frame but would be very grateful if any member could identify the man in who was awarded them.

The cross in numbered 31594 and I have already found out that this fits the number block for the 2nd Polish Armoured Brigade.

A couple of the badges relate to this one …is a 2 over a tank .. but another badge in the frame is more confusing it appears to be a scarab beetle above a crescent ?

Many thanks

Gary

Early transitional WW1 era helmet?

The seller has this up as a transitional WW1 era German/Austrian helmet. I’m no expert on the transitional equipment of the early Third Reich and the late Austria, so I thought it best to touch base here to see whether this what the seller says it is.

French M26 colour

Hello,

Here’s a French helmet I’ve just bought, it was only after it arrived that I realised the colour is much darker than the pre-war green. Could this be a late war (post liberation) repaint or do you think it’s been repainted recently?

The badge has a different colour so probably added not too long ago.

Sorry about the photo quality, there’s either too much sunlight or not enough and thanks for any comments.
Tony

Is this an axis (Finnish?) helmet

So I saw this listing up and it’s described as a ‘fiver glass’ helmet. So I’m thinking it could either be some rubbish motorcycle helmet do up. Or perhaps a Finnish tankers helm? The white swastika (it looks to be) is on top of it, and a liner suspension that doesent ring any bells strait away.

So yeah, is this a military piece or just some rubbish?
