M34 Double Decal Police Helmet - Reverse Decal Configuration

This is probably my favorite style M34 shell, of Austrian manufacture I believe. I am also a sucker for "reverse decal" helmets. I already had a few DD examples, and have been tightening my belt due to some work related issues, but when I saw this one last week I decided I had to sneak one more onto the shelf. Of course, I got caught, but as Doug B. once told me, its better to apologize than to regret not having pulled the trigger, and it only resulted in a few nights on the couch. Anyway, this one took a few unfortunate hits on the decals, but they still show pretty well, and overall the piece is complete and in fairly good shape. The name scratched in the apron by the Policeman is an added bonus. Hope you like it, Jim G.

2 Cupal Panzerkampfabzeichen

I have what I think is a very nice treat for all you fans of PAB’s.

Two (?) beautiful cupal Assmann & Sohne PAB’s (variant 1.3.1). One in bronze and one in silver. For those who know, both versions are quite rare and highly desirable.

The Bronze is in excellent worn condition with just some minor wear highlighting the underlying copper color. It is also oh so slightly "bent". The silver on the other hand is in mint condition. Just some slight discoloration to silver. I can not tell if it the traditional silver plate or the electroplated version. Maybe someone knows.

Both weight exactly 12 grams. In line with accepted standards. And both the typical C hook catch and sheet metal hinge. The silver’s hinge is set slightly lower and has a puddle of solder to attach the catch (not uncommon I have read).

Now…for full disclosure…why the "?" at the beginning? The silver could be a zinc version. As there is no visible copper wear I can never be sure but as noted, they both weigh exactly the same and within the accepted standards. I do have a zinc Assmann to compare too and this weighs 18 grams…

First up is the silver, followed by the bronze.

Again…thanks to Ned for the advice and research.

Regards,

Michael

Austrian WW1 Entrenching Tool

Now I don’t know why the Austrians needed ETs, they were in the mountains, surely a pick axe would be more suitable, but that’s not the point, I’m selling this as I don’t collect these things, but I don’t want to go too high or low, would £20 be a fair shout or is it worth more or less?
