I wanted to show you this handmade pair of shoulder boards. I suppose this pair was used on a private NKVD’s service uniform. A friend of mine suggests it could be post war insignia, probably handmade during occupation of germany.
Here’s a zweitschrift soldbuch to Obergefreiter Hans Schenk. A civvy driver, he was awarded the KVK2 w/s, Ost medal & KBA in bronze. Schwere Art. Reg. 859 was equipped with heavy 21cm Morser’s. In Feb ‘44 he was suspected of feigning illness. He was captured by the Western Allies, or at least spent time in an American POW camp. Thanks to "hucks216" who pointed out he must of been one of many who made a run from the east to be captured by basically anyone apart from the Russians. Two award ribbons can be seen in his pic & due to the stamping on the pic. I think it was the one from his original soldbuch. Stewy
Another item from the Guernsey lot I have just acquired. A hice honest unmessed with belt and buckle, well marked on the leather and the closure clip. I have not seen the buckle maker before although I am sure its not rare. What I would like to know is, what does B.A.Bi.10 37 mean.
Thanks for taking a look,
All the best from Jersey,
