Hi Gents,

Can anyone tell me more about the signing of Hoffman photos sent to prominent Generals in the German armed forces. Are they wery common and was the signing done by the generals or by secretaries? This original (and sadly period glued on lila surface) grouping is from Finland. Is the accomapanying letter signed by Dietl´s adjutant? Can anyone spell out the name of him for me?

I already owned a copy of this book, but it is a paper back 1940 dated revised edition, stikll nice to have. I saw this earlier hardback edition for sale for what seemed a sensible price and I won it.

I had noticed it was author signed which was also part of the appeal but it is only since it arrived today that I looked into the person to whom it was dedicated.

Lt Commander William Sidney Galpin was aboard the HMS Glatton when it exploded in 1918. According to the research in the attached thread he served in WWII in Hut 6 at Bletchley Park.

Hi guys!

I promise better pics when this one arrives.

It is my first polizei helmet! These are probably my absolute favorite Third Reich combat helmets, not sure why. Lots of polizei lids in this lot number range, and there are some interesting things written on the liner which I should be able to translate once I have it in my hands and can decode the suetterlin. It is in 100% untouched, out of the woodwork condition. The writing looks like a unit marking or name, and then a date of 15.9.43.

Since the police were administrated by the SS, this is also my first SS helmet… technically… and you can’t tell me that it isn’t! Because it is! :p
