Hi guys last post tonight. I haven’t got a clue about this one apart from thinking it may be a parade helmet??? But I bow down to your expertese and superior knowledge compared to mine cool militaria can not see any markings on the helmet but the line is marked Helmets Ltd and dated 1939 size 7. The high gloss on this lid is on the inside and the outside. Thanks for looking.
Here is my ring that I talk about - it is slightly different and marked ( I think Russian silversmith)- It was found in my garden ( in Slovenia) - so it is also possible that is fake or original because there were a lot of different ,,army’s,, at thiese area . Thank you for the answers (sorry for bad pictures)
On the pictures it appears an almost luminous yellow greenish colour but that is down to the artificial light I am using. It looks more of a mustard yellow khaki colour. Tropical or desert camo??? You can see that this paint has been applied over a matt khaki colour (I have tried to capture this in the pics). The helmet is manufactured by WD (William Dobson) with a date of 1939. The helmet liner is manufactured by VERO with a date of 1938 and is a size 7. Thanks for looking guys.
Just got back from a militaria fair in St George’s hall in Liverpool after a great find on one of the stalls. The guy was selling a MkII helmet RO.Co (Rubery Owen) dated 1939 which doesn’t appear to be a military helmet due to the paint colour being a greyish blue in colour but still a nice early MkII. The liner has no makers mark only a size of 7 1/4 (that’s the second helmet I have now with no makers mark does anyone have any ideas why?) The mosquito helmet net that was on the MkII I recognised from an internet dealer site (I can’t remember which one) that I had viewed a while ago selling the helmet net alone for about £180 or so. So I plucked up the courage to ask how much, held my breath and he said £100 so I bit his arm right off :p The mosquito helmet net is marked R. S. Co. Ltd and dated 1944 with the broad arrow stamp. What do you think guys a good buy or what?
Hi folks come across this from a reputable dealer who admits he has no idea what it is or should have been, described as period and picked up from a market stall in Germany,, i know what it looks like,, unfinished, prototype maybe, as anyone seen anything like this.
ps,, loking for a salty SA if anyone knows of one, around £300.
