Digging in Moldova?

Does anyone know if there was any fighting during ww2 in Moldova? Now I mean the country, not the Romanian state.

Going there for work for 1 year and I am thinking of bringing the detector….

Condor Legion Buckle ???

Hi This was in the large collection I bought. It is in unissued condition and has an unmarked tab. I like the overall quality of the buckle. I have never been interested in these plain buckles but this might be a real Condor Legion buckle. Thanks for any information. Kirby

Stahlhelm

The Stahlhelm bukles from my large buckle buy.
Top left is a rare pattern but it is missing the pin.
Top right is nice but I have one like it.
Center left has a differernt catch than my others.
Center right is the only one I am going to keep.
Bottom left common and the face plate is pushed in a little.
Bottom right is hard to find pattern and this is a small upgrade on the one I have.

Helmet nets.

I really like the look of these looser helmet nets I’ve found here on e-bay, but how easy are they to fake? I presume they have no labels, no dates etc. The French seller says they have an ‘old’ smell about them and is selling a box full, but what do people think? How do you prove the authenticity of something like a net?

Sniper Rifle Competition

I shot in the Sniper Rifle Competition this weekend. Since it was not a CMP sanctioned shoot, they allowed all generations of sniper rifles on the line and then just classified the weapons for scoring. There were lots of 03A4s, a few M21s and a few M1Ds - but my teammate and I were the only ones shooting the Soviet PUs. Most people who shoot vintage sniper rifles here consider them to be low quality - "Russian Junk" as they were referred to before the competition.

But, the results say something different. On Day 1 we shot individual score at 300 and 600 yards.Skip and I both held our own at both ranges and outshot many. Clearly, at those ranges, once you have a solid rifle, it is about the shooter and even with the lower-power scope, one can compete.

Day 2 was individual 600 yards and then a 2 man competition at 300 and 600 yards. Again, we did well but I made two rookie mistakes that cost us some points - I htink we could have easily won the vintage team competition.

Lesson learned - make sure ALL of your screws are tight and make sure your windage knob wasn’t jarred.

I’m looking forward to the next match!!

Here are some photos:

This one shows me (the second shooter in) just after firing.

Here is Skip - my son spotted and scored for us both days.
