Wound Badge in Black

This is the final medal from my German friend’s father. Good condition, unmarked. (I apologize for the small sized photos; my wife and I recently went to the Bad Dürkheim wine fest and somehow the settings on the camera were changed. Probably by wine-induced accident)

Finally in time for the Market-Garden anniversary

I finally got my BD blouse back from the seamstress. I’ll definately keep in mind not to take my work ro a woman who makes wedding dresses, in the summer, when all the weddings are lol. It’s a Greek blouse, made in ‘57, but all of the buttons are covered, the patches are repro. She waited so long, I think she lost the list she made of how the patches were sposed to be, but as long as it’s not original, I guess it’s not that important. I did want one from the Somerset LI, so I still have some hunting to do. I described the kit in another thread. The cup is a new addition, I didn’t put the entrnching tool in the carrier just to keep the weight down.

German ration bag? DRK?

I picked this bag up a long time ago for 3$ it is really big about the size of a trash bag. It was sold as an original "ration" bag, but with added stamping to one side (for appeal im guessing). The side with the eagle is post war, but can anyone tell me what the other side means and what the bag really is?

Estonian Firefighters Visor Cap

This was an enigma to me for many years. I obtained it from Dave Webster as a gift and we could not figure out what it was. It was missing it’s cockarde, but the chinstrap and Soviet buttons were intact. There was a "ghost" on the band where the cockarde was supposed to be affixed, but for the life of me any Soviet cockarde I had in stock, saw on the internet or in books did not fit the bill…

I inquired with some colleagues on the Russian language collectors forums, but got nowhere - the final prognosis was "It is not Soviet in any case".

Finally, I was browsing eBay and a seller in Estonia was offering a "Estonian Fireman’s badge". I had a gut feeling it was what I was looking for - and for ten bucks and a few extra for shipping I took the chance. Upon receipt, I held it up to the cap’s band, and wouldn’t you know it, it was a perfect match to the "ghost".

So, I have an Estonian fireman’s cap… It’s design is 1950s, possibly even 1960s IMO - comparing it to Soviet visor caps of the same/similar construction.

What I am curious about knowing is; Are the (Soviet) chinstrap buttons correct, or is there a specific type? They certainly appear to have been affixed to the cap for a very long time.

Dimas, I would value your opinion, guess, or factual answer on this. cool militaria

Cheers,
Richie
