U.s. Navy armed guard

I recently acquired an archive of papers of a Lt. who was in the U. S. Navy Armed Guard in the Pacific from 1942 to 1945. They include his commission document, a barage baloon certificate, and four logs detailing his command’s activities on a daily basis. I had never heard of this outfit before, but apparently it was made up of sailors whose job was to protect troop ships, liberty ships, and ships in the Merchant Marine. I’m curious if any members are familiar with the Guard. Any thoughts on whom might find these papers to be of interest? Thanks for your help.

can anyone tell what his ribbon is?

hello everyone. I had just found out that I had a distant relative that was in the Italian Navy during ww2. when Italy surrendered, he looked to defect and was captured by the Germans. He eventually escaped German captivity and fled to America. He has just passed away and i would like to put a display together for my aunt. I have a feeling its the war merit cross but im not sure. help is always appreciated.
