UN painted WW2 liner

I find this one a bit strange and interesting considering all the US and clone liners that have been made since ww2 that could have been used for the UN.
It’s a mid ww2 westinghouse liner with a 1963 sweatband painted in UN colours with transfer decals. Which I got from a British soldier who was issued it for his Cyprus tour 1985-1986 with the Queens Dragoon Guards as part of the armoured Scout Car Squadron.
So 1942/44 liner with 1963 US sweatband issued in 1985. I wonder where it has been for those forty odd years.
It would maybe help I someone knows when the UN started painting helmets blue and when transfers were first use for decals.
Or any other thoughts are welcome.
Best Regards and thanks.

German peak cap.

I bought this cap for a fiver from a women’s vintage clothes shop after seeing a beret in the window. It is in remarkably good condition apart from the obvious peak mishap and is dated 1939. It was hanging up minus the peak and I just assumed it was a fancy dress prop until I saw the makers mark on the inside of the sweatband. I asked after the peak but the girl said that’s how she found it. I posted some pictures on a German cap forum with the intention of trying to buy a replacement peak from someone when the unexpected occured. I went back into the shop for a browse months later and the girl produced the peak from behind the counter. She said she’d found it at the bottom of a bag and kept it for me. How they’d become seperated I don’t know. It’s been sitting in a box ever since. It just needs a sypathetic repair and the badges replaced. Would it have had some sort of strap? Cheers.

MkII Police Superintendent

A typical early MkII made by HBH (Harrison Bros.& Howson) factory finished in police blue, then over painted white with in a lighter blue police with the Kings crown for superintendent. The original word POLICE can be seen under the white paint so at sometime during the war this helmet was brought back to stores & refurbed to what it is now. The liner is also dated 38 & produced by J.C.S & W Ltd.
