Question Types of beaded Luftschutz helmets??

I have bought a beaded luftschutz helmet from a forum member ( it is on it’s way down under ) and being my first I got to doing some research on the types and liner construction and I have a few questions for the more knowledgeable out there.

1) As I understand, the gladiator styles were available for private purchase for about 5 to 8 reichsmarks. These all had the lightweight "civic" liner. The beaded design was slightly heavier ( but not as heavy as a normal combat helmet ) and were made in M35, M40 & M42 models. They DO NOT have the decal showing the price or size so how were they provided? free issue - & to whom? ….. flak units ????

2) The beaded model had both civic and so called "combat" style liners - why…..? and who got what?

3) Was the beaded police helmet the same as the beaded luftschutz in construction and liner? Where would the distinction be made in the wearing of the field police ( feldgendarmarie ) combat helmet and the beaded police? City and combat areas I guess, but how was the demarcation sorted out?

Sorry for the "twenty questions" lads - just trying to understand it all.
Cheers, Dan

Questions about restoring a M1 Helmet liner

Hi, i am restoring my world war 2 m1 helmet liner and i have a few questions. First, Do i really have to buy a $30 dollar tool to put the rivets in place? if i do is there any place that sells them cheeper than jmurray1944.com? Second, when i drilled out the rivets i overdrilled an A washer and it broke, is there any place i can just get one A washer I dont want to spent $10 on a set and only use one. And last question, is there anywhwere i can buy a drawstring for under $5, ive seen some sell on ebay but i dont want to spend $35 dollars on a 70 year old shoelace. Ill post some pictures of what it looked like before, and what it looks like right now. Any responses would be helpful.

Important! Original Luftwaffe grouping being seperated!

Hey guys, there is an auction in two days (6/24/2012) that has this grouping that belonged to a Luftwaffe Flak NCO. The grouping consist of the tunic, sidecap, visor cap, and original photo of the NCO himself. I tried to send in an absentee bid on the entire grouping, but I was told that the pieces are being separated and auctioned off! I am greatly disturbed that these pieces are being taken away from each other. Unfortunately I do not have the money to win each piece separately in order to keep the grouping together, so I have decided not to even attempt a bid. I am hoping that the same individual wins these items so the grouping can remain together. This is a rare grouping and it would be a shame to ruin it by separating the pieces. If any of you are interested in the auction and have the resources to win each piece then send me a PM and I will send you a link to the auction website.

I strongly feel that these items should stay together. So good luck to anybody who attempts to save them.

Regards,

Corey
