Attachment 288455For many years, I have wondered what unit wore this visor cap. It was my first schirmutze bought for $5.00 in 1958 from a resale store in Chicago. The cap had a black velvet band with blue top and carmine piping like a typical fire hat. The eagle was a silver M1936 political eagle. The cocarde was black outside with a dark blue center. It was a prewar private purchase cap. All insignia were original to the cap. The image is from the Bozich book on headgear from 1968. It is out there somewhere. I have never seen another like this.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have recently bought this off the internet via ebay.com.
I dont know how to get the photos off ebay to my computer to put on this forum, so if someone could do that for me, -to save getting this link lost and this thread becoming useless- I would be very grateful. It might take a weak or so before they arrive, so we will have to work with these.

I have a really nice condition 90%+ or better serial # 01X complete with the one way skeletonized clip similar to the one used on the US Pedersen. All later serial numbered Vickers Pedersens used a symetrical 2 way clip. I have fired the rifle a few times to check functionality and it works fine. I stopped firing it when I was informed it was most probably a preproduction piece since all other specimens that were known used the 2 way clip. The clip I have was obtained from Herb Woodend formerly from curator of the Enfield Pattern Room. Even he didn’t know what it was for since the locking catch was in the wrong place to work in US Pedersens. The inside of this receiver is not groved to accept the clip guides (similar to Garand clip) on other Vickers Pedersen clips.
Anyone have any idea what this piece is and what it might be worth?
Any infromation would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, a seller contacted me about this piece, he says its 20cm high, weighs 2kgs and is made of marble, and there is a makers name wich says schin…. and rest he is not able to read…

I think it looks more like a plaster made copy that is painted, but when i asked this he said he’s 100% sure its marble or some kind of stone?
opinions wouldt be great
