Named Front Seam M1

I picked this one up many years ago in a junk shop in a small town in Connecticut. It is a front seam, Schlueter shell, heat stamp number 439 ("A"?) (click on the eighth picture 2x and you will be able to make that out, unfortunately the numbers are up side down), named on the shell in the hand rendered emblem, and on the Firestone liner in block stenciled letters. The emblem on the shell seems to me to connote use by an engineer. It was issued, but apparently hardly used. The preservation of the cork texture is remarkable. The sewn on eleven rib chin strap has blackened hardware, and is flawless. The liner is also complete, but the leather liner chinstrap is dry and broken. Also, the sweat band is in backwards, but this is exactly how I got the helmet many years ago. The NARA-AAD database lists a number of E. Goodrow’s from Connecticut who served during WWII, but none listed have the middle initial "P". One of them, however, was born in 1900, so maybe he was stationed in the rear, or never left the States, which could explain the lack of apparent wear on the helmet. I guess I will never know. Anyway, it is in what I would describe as near mint minus condition. Hope you like it. Jim G.

Exchange needed,

Hi,
I have been asked today if i know anyone who would exchange ( swop ) a mk1 Stengun for an Australian lithgow Brengun Mk1 1941 issue. If any of you are interested i have his phone number, he is called carl, and lives here in cornwall.
I have not seen the Bren myself but have been assured it is in very good condition,
He is a military collector himself but just wants to have a change.
Regards Dave,

Afrika Korps LW Stahlhelm M 35/40

kubelwagen type vehicle?

Hi all just digging through my really old backup discs and found my 2003 pics with an awful camera, found pics of what I thought was a german nazi kubelwagen in a car garage in my town here. Garage owner said it isin’t a kubelwagen but based off it. Anyone know what it is? looks like a dutch import or something

cheers

M40 Camo Surprise

Hi guys, this one won’t be new to a few of you as I have posted it elsewhere but I am a newb here and would like to share some of my bits and pieces cool militaria

I picked up this M40 off eBay last year, I had no illusions at all that the camo was original so I stripped it off with acetone, I started at the vents admittedly hunting a decal. Sadly none to be had but white paint began peeking through which did not seem to be affected by the acetone. I swiftly changed my mind about giving the thing a new coat of paint :D

In the right light there also seems to be a 2 or 3 tone camo finish under the white layer, but it is very darkened and faint and I’ve not been able to photograph it properly yet, you can see part of it as splotches of brown on these pics.

This is one of my favourite helmets, I think mostly because it was such a surprise. Also, there are a couple of hairline cracks on the dome of the lid, which IMO were caused by very extreme cold (eastern front?) followed by a sharp shock, possibly the helmet was dropped on the dome. Not battle damage IMO because the steel is not malformed in any way. This was probably the reason the lid was abandoned, and subsequently why it is on my shelf, so I must sincerely thank Uffz Butterfingers for this ;)

The liner cord in the pic is a half decent copy to fill the gap but it is now removed to take the stress off the liner leather when I display it on a stand cool militaria.

I really like this one, hope you guys do too ;);)

Oh and PS, before any eagle eyed collectors notice; I added the repro chinstrap myself along with the liner cord cool militaria

Us m9 lan-cay

Hi, mates !

Wanna show you the current used US bayonet, the M9, maker: LAN-CAY

There you can find two other US M9 bayonets, maker: Phrobis
http://www.warrelics.eu/forum/bayone…bis-iii-64189/

M9 bayonets are rel. huge, (overall lenght: 311mm, blade lenght: 182mm), and pretty heavy !
That´s the reason why, the USMC adopted the OKC3S.

This, particular LAN-CAY is worn but, that´s really the condition I like blank weapons most ! ;)

Best,

R.
