1936 Olympic Press Passes

Could use some help identifying what these were used for. They don’t appear to be the normal press passes issued by the Third Reich, more so something that would’ve been attached to camera cases/luggage. Any help would be appreciated.

Question WW2 AIF Rifle Range Flag?

This is one of the latest purchases. Anyone seen anything like this before? I bought it as a WW2 Australian Range flag. Made of heavy cloth its yellow on one side and black on the other. Shows outdoor use and has all ropes and toggles. Faintly marked in one corner Hendleys PTY LTD and D^D. "Shirley" is also written on the yellow side above the stamps. What do you guys think?

My visit to Northern France, WW1 sites and a mad dash around Europe in a day including Malmedy!

I’m just back from a very short break to Northern France, an area I have never visited before. I had two full days to pack in as much as possible and I think I achieved my goal!
This thread is to share my brief tour of France and Northern Europe with you and bring some of the sights to those who may never get to see them.
There is quite a bit to get through so can I ask you, for the sake of continuity not to post any comments or questions until my tour is completed. cool militaria

Ok, I started off on Thursday 24th in the afternoon by landing in Calais and had a couple of hours drive to my hotel in St Quentin. As I drove deeper into France I started to come across signs to memorials and cemeteries along the way. I stopped by in the village of Souchez, just north of Arras. It is a Commonwealth cemetery called Cabaret Rouge.
The cemetery is one of the largest British cemeteries on the Western Front and was begun as a cemetery in 1916. After the armistice it received bodies from small cemeteries and individual graves on the battlefields of Arras and other points in the Artois area. It holds 6,800 British, 750 Canadian, more than 100 Australian, over 40 South African and 15 Indian graves. The majority are unidentified.
It is also the cemetery from where the Canadian Unknown Soldier was exhumed from and whose body now rests in the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior at the National War Memorial in Ottowa.

New flea market field gear finds

Hi guys,

I have been away on vacation for the past few days in North Carolina. I always find good stuff when I go home. My finds over the weekend included a nice Navy jumper, a boxed and dated National Defense medal, a 1918 2nd assistant BAR cartridge belt, a named 1942 canteen and cover in great condition, and a rather large book that details every WWII veteran from the county where my family is from. I only spent $35. Gotta love flea markets.

Here is the belt and canteen. The cover seems to have a maker or something stitched or stamped into it. Am I crazy or is it actually a maker’s mark?
