I was wondering if anyone can tell me anything about this souvenir medal. Were these available for sale to soldiers in the respective occupied zones or were they made post war for tourists ? It’s about the size of a silver dollar and is fairly heavy. It belongs to a friend of mine whose father served in Italy during WWII, any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Al.

A comparison of two caps in space and time.

PS I have a weakness for Rw caps, which I do not own any longer. I de accessioned them all, actually. But the leather peak and the one off chin strap are interesting to people who care about such things and cannot find productive things to do with their lives.

Here is a small collection of canteens and cups from my collection. The two canteens top left are ww1 but i thought i would include them anyway as its nice to see how the ww2 canteen kept a similar design. The bottom left two canteens are the large capacity ones and the three canteens to the right of those are the wooden impregnated canteens first issued to tropical theatres and then to all theatres in the mid to late war years, There is a mixture of bakelite and aluminium and steel cups. and some variation in felt covers also, i plan to expand this collection with a few medical/mountain troop canteens and a few more political canteens also, when i finally get chancAttachment 198662e to stick some more money asside to buy them. The dates on these range from 1936-43

Morning gentlemen I could use a little help with these glasses have had them for about 25 years and have tried to find them on the web to research a few times and can never find an image or any kind of info on them they have only one makers mark and that is AOM and that is stamped in the glass on the top of the lens I tried to get a clear picture of it but It’s not working out for me. My thoughts are military issue Dispatch rider glasses,aviator glasses,or climbing glasses.Any one out there have any thoughts.
