Unidentified item from 8th Air Force Dump

Below is a picture of an item which was retrieved from the dump site of a former B-17 base on Saturday … It is clearly marked ‘Remove this place before using’ and is made from good quality aluminium.

As it looks like it was attached to something while it was in transit rather than being an actual piece of B-17 I guess it might be quite hard to identify … hard for us mere mortals … but probably fairly easy for the likes of PB!:)

Any ideas?

German “Waffen-SS” Dog Tag Identification help?

Hello,

I am new and have no idea what I recieved. I received these two items from my elderly neighbor, who’s husband recently passed. Now her husband was not drafted or in the war, because she states that he was not at the age to be drafted stating "He just made it." But, they did take his brother. She went on to say that his brother was in war and suffered "emotionally" from the war. She stated at times he would hid under tables ect..

So, hear are some pictures. I am looking to decode the dog tag to determine what I have. THX

A Polish officer’s medals

Good evening! I am researching the life of a Polish colonel who in the late 1930s wore three medals as shown in the photograph. Any clues as to their significance would be most welcome. He was 40 in 1915 so likely served in some or all of the conflicts 1914-1920. Thank you. Blue skies! — Dan Ford
