Diplomat sword

heard it went for $40,000… how do they know it was Joachim Von Ribbentrop’s sword.,,, did they have a name on it?

My Collection Thus Far

I posted some pics awhile back of some rifles and there new home and was asked to post some pics of the rifles by themselves.Well I thought that I would start that here tonight and drag it out over a period of time as time permits for me to do so.The first will be my G43 this rifle is matching #’s throughout with proofs still present on the stock.I use to shoot her some in fact I have a shooters kit installed to protect the rifle and use reduced loads on her when i reload.

the mount is a repo real ones when you find them are about $1000 but the scope is right in production # to the rifle with the blue triangle

the proofs

next up is my FN49 under Argentie Navy Contract another rifle with matching #’s a very solid shooter (forged receiver) no tack driver but effective none the less

Next one up is my M1a standard with a Boyds stock "tack driver" with practice I can pull down 1.5" groups @100yds which I think is pretty good for a no frills girl.I took her for the first time in 3yrs the other day to check out the bar sight I aquired off and old M1 Garand parade rifle;whole rifle $75 the sight was worth that.I love the sight.

The last rifle for today is the newly aquired just today K98 BYF 44 which has matching #’s thus far the receiver, bolt, trigger and front band.I have been looking for one of these for my collection for a long time.I will post some better pics of this one later when the sun is higher in the sky.Cheers

New member and helmets question…

Hello, happy to find your forum.

Recently i bought two helmets from a junk shop with the idea to convert them. One would be massively converted for a robot head design i had in mind and the other would be cleaned and repainted, converted to be usable as a prop.
After i got back home and thought about it… i wouldn’t want to ruin something that might have a vintage value (my collector self awoke) (and anyway i could mold and cast a fake one from them in order to make the convertion idea, without destroying the originals).
So maybe i am entering at the weird, spooky, freakish with no return world of collections :shok_yikes: (just being funny, i love collecting stuff even if i am steping into a new world here).
And here i need your help on how to continue this…. suggestions, ideas, even discouraging me to continue.

These are the photos of the two helmets.
I am not completely sure but i think they are Bulgarian M36 not sure the type.
Both rusty with many scratches filled with dirt. They dont have any markings on like some pictures i found online that had some emblems on them.

Attachment 153467
This one has more rust and a small crack at one side, the straps and lining where in a disgusting state (unfortunately or not, i removed them).

Attachment 153466
This one was in a better shape. The straps and lining are in better shape but are a bit wear with small rips in places. This one has a folded edge unlike the first one. I thought it might be a M36 A but i am not sure since i dont know what else should be there to check.

So here are my questions: Are they really M36, can you tell the types. Do they have any vintage value or i should just go on and do what i was thinking in the first place?
I was thinking to restore the second one (the first one needs too much work and i dont know if it will worth it), remove rust, fill any areas that have been too rusted , repaint it as close to the original and repair or replace the lining and straps. But it is my first time and i am not sure if this is the way to treat it.
Or maybe it is not such a great find after all and it doesnt matter…

What are your opinions?
thanks in advance

(I apologise to the administrators and moderators if i didn’t post in the right section and if my post is too big.I will try to fix any problem if noticed, or feel free to change anything)

Need help on purchasing HJ German youth dagger

I am looking to purchase an HJ Dagger. I am not sure what kind would be the best bang for my buck? I have read a far amount about them on the net and there seems to be alot of different varieties out there. ie RZM, different manufacturers and years they were made. Can anyone help me on making my 1st WWII purchase?? And If someone knows a reliable seller on the net that would b great as well!! I don't want to spend a fortune but something that's good quality would be nice!

Need help! Gold political eagle insignia

I purchased this eagle cap insignia today, with the knowledge that I can get a refund if originality is questionable. I see this one has a maker’s mark of M1/47, with no RZM mark (unlike the example I posted on). The pins differ from one already shown, as does the location of the markings on the back, but my thinking is that this could be perfectly standard variation? Please let me know what you think, and what the value of this is.

-Mat

Horst Wessel Memorial Plaque

I thought that I would share my latest purchase with you guys. A large bronze plaque about 13" in diameter that was once attached to a building. My guess is that it was attached possibly to a bulding related to the death of Wessel such as the rooming house he was shot in or the hospital where he died. The inscription is the same as on his grave marker. Horst Wessel items are very hard to come by and I couldn’t pass this one up!

Heer 1st Model Tropical/DAKTunic

Hi all,
Ade’s comments have fueled my will to post more items here with as many pictures as possible but I won’t indulge into lengthy descriptions.
Now it’s the time for a beautiful first-model tropical jacket, referred to as the M40 tropical tunic, which has been ABSOLUTELY un-touched since the end of the War,down to its lone shoulder board (we can’t have everything, can we?) to…..the first aid kit in its pocket, which thing alone makes this tunic a one in a million IMO,even if I’ve found other two along the years, and one of them is still in my possession!
Untouched and un-messed with M40s are not so thick on the ground but this one is kinda special to me.I cannot say whether it has seen action in Africa or not but it surely is a veteran of the Italian Campaign.
The breast eagle has been machine stitched in its upper part, then flipped over and the rest has been neatly hand sewn.Every single part of the tunic, and that does include the small reinforcement patches, are stamped with the same number as if it was a WWI P-08!!!!!
The tropical Y-straps with the green tab on the back are another Vet of the MTO but haven’t been found with the tunic….they’re quite salty but the green web tab makes them rarer than the "common" straps with the leather piece and thus worthy of this baby!
It’s all by now……time to consign the tunic to his mannequin back in my anti-burglar “bunker” and look for something else to share with you in the next days.
Cheers
Manny
P.S.;The 1911 in one of the pictures isnt’ WH-issue…it’s my Les Baer CCW …heavy, cumbersome yet…..darn comfortable ;)
