While exploring Normandy beaches (Sword,Juno) in 1970 I found in the beach sand what appears to be the front of an exploded mortar. Would very much like to know what it is. Photo attached.
For reference, what you see is about 2.5 inches in diamer and about 5 inches long. Very heavy for its size. Would be nice to finally know what this is...

Hi Chaps, can anybody please help with translation of the Wehrpass pages below? I've figured out the following : -
Born 30/07/1914 in ???, near? Koblenz. He was Catholic and a labourer in civilian life.
Entitled to: - Ostmedaille - 13/04/42, Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz - 18/08/42 and Deutsches Schutzwall - Ehrenzeichen - 09/05/40.
Albert was a was a pre-war volunteer (freiwilliger) coming forward for service in 1935. He served from 01/11/34 to 01/04/35 with the regular police in Wuppertal & then from 24/08/39 to 19/11/39 with ??????. After leaving the police Albert initially joined 1.Kp.Inf.Ers.Batt.365. from 23/11/1939. He was trained to use the K98 rifle and a P08 'Luger' pistol. He also qualified to drive a car (Wehrmacht Fuhrerschein Kl.3). He served with a couple more units before going on active service with 10.Kp.284 I.R. From 24/10/41 in Russia. He was in 2 hospitals in Lutzen and Saarfeld from 28/02 to 25/06/42 presumably recovering from wounds. Albert served with many units the most unusual being 2/Marschbtl.z.b.V.2 Baumholder?????? from 20/12/42 to 15/01/43. He then went onto serve with 9/Gren. Rgt. 335 who were part of 205 Inf. Div. and was killed in action on 17/06/1943 at ???? in Russia.
