Need help! Uniforms ID help, please!

Hi all!

I have a photo of men of the Greek National Guard parading in my hometown. It’s unfortunately undated, but I can limit the timeframe from 1947 (2nd year of the Civil War) to 1950-51. The National Guard was at the time an auxilliary force of armed civilians.

That’s pretty evident on their clothing, although the regular army itself presented at the time a rather non-homogenous picture concerning the issued uniforms, since the greek made BD copies were NOT yet manufactured and the clothing of the army was depending on British and US aid.

I would be really grateful if I could get some help in IDing the pictured BDs. I guess that if the photo was taken in 1950-51 the blouse marked as "1" could be one of the first greek made copies. Could it be a British pattern 46 or 47, though?

Now, regarding the 2 BDs marked "2". Could what the first man is wearing be a pattern 47 or 49 British made BD or even a pattern 44 US made field jacket (looking at the shape of the pocket flaps)? That’s for sure not a greek made one.

And what about the man behind? Could that be a pattern 47 or 49 blouse?

Thanks in advance!

Regards, Giorgos

Another look at Normandy lid:)

Hello guys,
Well seeing some called my Helmet an over painted chech black lid which it is NOT (started by another lid on the same site) i thought i’d take some outside shots showing grey under the paint (not black!).I know it looks a bit fresh in these digital pics but thats Technology for you.It actually has good age and ware to it with heaps of character. You don’t get that with repro lids! Who in their right mind would put fake cammo over an original SD lid for goodness sake guys.Think about it before you reply as there are real Helmets out there believe it or not and not all are fake:D

Need help! First Helmet Need help with liner

I just picked up my first German helmet. M40 type green rough paint stamped vent hole rolled rim w/very nice decal w/gold fleck in it. My question is on the liner. The liner and leather are very fragile because of sitting in an attic for over 40 years (admission from previous owner). Would it be advisable to find a repro or real liner to replace it? Same question for the chinstrap? Both of these parts are broken or missing parts. All hardware is there.

A set of nazi plates

Hi guys

My grandfather just died and i found in his apartment
a set of 11 nazi plates. There are six soup plates
and five main dishes. They are without
scratches and they have never been used. They where
hidden and nobody knew for them. I live in Bulgaria.

I am not a collector and won't use them so if somebody is interested just tell me.

Best Regard

Georgi Gocev

ss helmet/ no decal?

Im aware that many german army german helmets either had a decal, or two or none.Im not sure though if ss helmets always had a decal???, or like the army could ss soldiers in some circumstances be issued with helmets without decals,?and if so then collectors must come across fully used ss helmets which will be forever thought of as probably army because they have no decal, and fetch prices acordingly?LV.

Thoughts on Identifying an “Interesting” Buckle

I wonder if any forum member has thoughts about this quite interesting (potentially interesting) buckle?

A casual glance would suggest DLV, although has anyone every seen such a design of eagle and furthermore, to include the eagles head which is clearly looking upward?

Is it DLV or could it have been manufactured and used by another organisation?

Following a conversation with an advanced collector and researcher who is a forum member, a few tentative alternative ideas have been suggested.

Any comments would be greatly welcome.

Regards,

David
