Due to the success of the dig of Saturday 15th May, would anyone be able to make say a weekender on the August Bank Holiday? Just an idea as i can ask Mrs Bomford about setting up a camp area in a field of her convienience where we could set up tents etc. A few barbecues could be brought along and what with good digging and few beers thrown in later might be good idea! Would be great to get everyone together again and maybe even get a JCB up there. Its just an idea and as ive said the more who can make it the better the results will be! Also very interesting was that 20-mm Oerlikon MK2 shell casing found in the bank above the stream. The Americans used that type of weapon extensively in the light Anti Aircraft role in WW2 but mainly in Naval applications. I wonder if they had any in use in the Flak role at Honeybourne OTU? as that was a fired case. Would be the dogs cahoonas to find one of the drum mags from one of those weapons. That one piece has confirmed what id been thinking all along that there were a variation of weapons and/or components disposed of there. who knows what else is there. Let me know your thoughts on this one guys as can allways arrange weekend date to suit everyone. Thought August BH would be good as its couple of months away and would give some notice, if no we can sort another to suit us all. Regards All and thanks again as you were all a great bunch of guys! Tim.
Hi guys,
Was digging through my loft and found this gem. At first I wasn't sure what it was, but when I saw the buttons I got quite excited. They are Army Service Corps buttons, which in my mind makes this Jacket at least pre 1918 as in that year the ASC became the RASC and changed badges.
but what sort of jacket it this? I'm correct in thinking it is British WW1?
The buttons are brass, have been highly polished and are detachable.
Any help would be appreciated.
I just wanted to share some quick pictures of my 1918 dated Lee Enfield and it's corresponding markings before I put it up for sale (at our yard sale next weekend). I would have loved to take it out for a shoot, but I never have the time.
Mike
Just for interest I thought I would post this rare image of a Luftwaffe Feldwebel wearing both the EK2 and the KVK2 from the buttonhole.
Enjoy the pic!
Maker ‘24′ - Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Hanauer Plaket-ten-hersteller often produced EK2s with an extra mark on the suspension (or jump) ring. Occasionally they would add another to the ribbon ring too.
I have three different marks on crosses in my collection, please look at your examples and post them for reference.
Here are mine - an acorn, an ‘X’ and a maltese cross or clover leaf style of motif.
it seems I no longer can reach this website. I couldn’t find any news about it ?

Hello everyone:
I have in my house this Erkennungsmarke: Stab Jnf. Ers. Btl 480
State-Staff of Infantry Battalion 480 Replacement
I think it's good, but one person told me that seems to be passed by acid this Erkennungsmarke. Can this be possible?
Is it good or false?
Thanks
