British issue ‘musette’ bag- 159ParaLghtRA 44th Indian Airborne 1944/5.

If this item hadn’t come with it’s provenance, I would have been blissfull in my ignorance, but a Loser nonetheless!, so it’s ’show and tell’ time:

I was talking to a stranger about ww2 stuff when he says he has an old army bag full of tools in the van, belonged to his dad in the Parachute Artillery in India during the war.

At first glance I was dubious- it looks like a cheapo camping bag, but he pointed out the name and number and then rang his dad (92 years old) to double check- Yes definatley issued to him in India during the war. Lunch over, he donated it (THANKS)!

Made from lightweight green cotton cloth with green enamelcoated steel buckles. Adjustable shoulder strap sewn to top rear corners. Steady strap across rear (removed on this one- QV holes each side). Tapered sides and rounded corners similar to US musette bag. About the same size as US version. Inner pocket across bottom half of rear- made from white cotton.

The most notable thing about this one (maybe a one-off, perhaps they are all like this?) is the mistake with the lid closure- the buckles should be attached to the lid, while the straps should be on the front pointing upwards.

sorry the pics ain’t great, taken in a hurry.

heer belt and buckle

this will be my last post of one of my pieces today. its a heer belt and buckle that i got for 40 dollars. its actually kinda funny, i was walking down the block to a local militaria shop when a guy got out of his car and shoved it in my face saying "you must be the guy! buy this please! 60 dollars! no, 40! i need cash right now!". so i took it :D the guy even gave me his card, and it turns out that he is a local news anchorman. he told me that he has a lot of helmets too but i never called him, not sure why.

its unmarked but it seems good to me. let me know what you all think.

my painted over m40

this helmet is the one i talked about a couple months ago about how i noticed that there may be original paint underneath. i already know that the liner, paint, and decal are fake but im hoping that i might actually uncover something original beneath the new paint. heres some pictures, id like to know what you all think. im guessing that the worst that could happen is i find nothing and since it was fake anyway, ill just refurbish it.

it looks like the liner band is original. i am posting a pic of the spot when some of the newer paint is missing. i know it may be hard to tell, but does it look like potential original paint underneath?

it is an ET68, lot # 491.

Fake SA dagger?

Hi, found this dagger on an auction site, hes asking 100euros for it and claims to genuine, i have my doubts.
Because the quality of the photo, maybe to hide something, and because of the price, its too low.
Give me opinions.
Best regards
Nuno

Misc. patches

Hi everyone,

A while back my uncle was cleaning out his warehouse and gave me this handful of patches that he had no use for anymore(he was retiring after many years in the antique business). Unfortunately he never told me anything about them:weep:. So far I’ve been able to identify the Air Ordnance and the Egypt/Israeli Observer patch. Can anyone provide more info on any of the others?

.303 Spitfire/Hurricane Relic Browning Machinegun.

Just secured a really nice relic! Its a relic .303 Browning that was either from a Spitfire or Hurricane crash site somewhere in South of England. Its reputed to be Battle of Britain but digger my mate got it from would not divulge any location or other details to protect "his site". The weapon has been made safe and from what ive seen in the pics looks very nice. Because it has no history the asking price is £185 which i reckon is very bloody good. Will post pictures when i get it. Regards, Tim.

The bazooka arrived :D
