.i know buying some repros isnt to everybodys taste ,but i like them.the majority of my antiques and militaria collection are genuine items.my recent buy is an m16 german repro helmet cover, which im delighted with.it has the leather reinforced area for the lugs and the hook atatchments for the rims.it was very reasonably priced and in the light of a guy on ebay trying to pass a repro one as original for crazy money i am more pleased.to underline some areas are so faked its getting nearly impossible to tell fake from real ,so i wont take the chance on high end items, and the money i save will go into other things in my life, and not some thiefs pocket.it may be an idea for a novice to put his money into repros before parting with big bucks ,and will give them time to learn from the forum, and other sources.
Hi guys heres my first helmet of 2010, this started out as apple green ss,then reissued as d/d ss blackie then reissued again as a d/d ss in green , this lid has seen plenty of use and wasnt no storeroom war dodger,, it is an et64 with the early ET font like ww1 lids, it also has a stamp in leather only found in these really early ss et lids, this lot number of 2804 is apparently the earliest m35 d/d known in any collection,i thank Doug for all this info:) its named W.GROSSE 12/SS.2 on the liner and lid, its no winner of any beauty contests but did what it was made for ,combat, if anybody has any info on that name or rgt i would appreciate it, cheers Dave
Hi All,
Last week I had some luck with a Craigslist listing for a DAK Pith Helmet. In addition to the Pith, I was able to pick up a few HJ and other TR related items. After leaving, I knew I had to go back as the person had more items for sale. With that said, below are the items I picked up my 2nd time around. $90 is what I paid for the lot.
I've been able to identify the majority of the pins (tinnies) however would like the boards opinion on whether or not they are authentic. The same goes for the Kriegsmarine breast eagle and NSDAP hat pin. I'm 99% sure both are the real deal, however being in the early stages of collecting TR items, I welcome critique from the experts on this board.
Also, I'd like some feedback on the "flag". Not sure it is even a flag as there are no loops for it to be raised on a pole. Could it have been draped in some manner? There seems to be remnants on the boarder of push pins where it would have been hung on a wall, however I'm not sure if this was a collectors doing, or how it was originally displayed.
Finally, I'm at a loss on the medal referencing the Wuerttemberg Kriegerbund. Any ideas what this would have been issued for? It appears to be named as well on the reverse (Francis?).
Any help you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!! :D
Again, any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I am very new to this so any help is GREATLY appreciated. I have this helmet and a Japanese one. Thanks!
hi guys,
i have here a ww2 german spange. I dont know whether its original or fake and another thing with it is that as you can see it has the ww2 german iron cross ribbon instead of the ww1 german iron cross ribbon, my gess is that it was a replacement ribbon. So is this original or fake?
thanks
regards callum.
Does this look like a camo helmet ,I am not certain. It is the shell only.
Hi fellas, The mapuche warrior here for the second time.. loving the site.. so help a brother out and let me know if you think this is an authentic japanese helmet? Let me know if you need more details amigos..
This has been the story/myth/sales pitch for many years now.
It is not the case. Many magnetic EKs have been found with provenance showing they were issued to Kriegsmarine personnel just as non-magnetic EKs were issued to the Heer and Luftwaffe.
Here is one such example worn by a sailor.
I will post the photos and ask the owner who has just joined the forum to give the provenance, apologys if you've seen them before......
The EK2 has not suffered from sea air as you would expect by not being permanantly worn. The magnetic EK1, as you can see has suffered from the exposure to a salty environment showing that magnetic EKs were issued to and worn by Kriegsmarine personnel.
I pick this helmet up a few years ago at a fleamarket in Normandy for 10 Francs.Yes Francs not Euros.
