Hi all. I recently acquired a HD&S M1917 trench knife. While there is loads of information out there on the LF&C manufactured version, there's not much on the HD&S version. I know Disston came up with original design.
Would anyone know the rarity of this version? I acquired it through my manager along with some other items that belonged to his Grandfather. He was drafted towards the tail end of WWI however was never sent overseas.
If anyone could give me some information (value, rarity, etc.) I would appreciate it. By the way, this is one frightening weapon! Would have hated to been at the business end of it while in a trench!
Thanks!
Hi all. I'm new to the forum and thought I would start off by uploading photos of my collection. I've been collecting WWII items for a couple years (I started with rifles then quickly made the leap to helmets, blades, field gear etc.) and am now starting to branch out to WWI items.
I've been very lucky to acquire a vast majority of my collection through family, friends and being in the right place at the right time!
Well, enough about me...here's my collection.
Here id something i like to collect,,,

I am not sure if this is WWII or not. It is a swivel with a rear seam. The liner looks WWII but I am not sure on the color and texture of the helmet. I am going to sell it so I want to be able to give a correct decription. Thanks
Hi, all. My friend just bought this buckle and emailed me these 2 photos. Is it just me or is the eagle's head a bit odd? I actually think (and maybe it's just the photo he sent) that it looks a little like a gerbil's head. He spent $55.00 on it and when I gave him my novice opinion he starting having buyer's remorse. He was told it was original...what do you guys think?
Thanks,
Adam
Hi, everyone. I saw these two pieces for sale and was interested in both of them but wasn't sure about the authenticity. The SS party pin/badge looks good and would appear to be made Walter & Henlein, Gablonz am N. I'd really like to get one of these and it's being sold by someone who has a lot of authentic items. I'm weary, however, as it is only $30 and because from what I gather these are faked quite a bit. The 2nd pin/badge also looks good to me and would appear to be by maker Wernstein, Jena. I haven't seen a lot of examples of these yet, but it looks good in comparison to an original I looked at. It's selling for $55.00, which seems like a good deal if it's a good piece. Could someone help me to clarify what exactly this badge is referred to? It have seen it advertised as a DRL badge, DRL Riding Association badge, DRL Cavalry badge and as just a sports badge.
Thanks for the help!
Best,
Adam
I am looking for an honest opinion on this decal. The placement seems too high to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Could it be a field applied one, or is this wishful thinking?
