Someone with an interest and a keen eye will probably know and guess right !

This WWI U.S. grenade has a MKI body with a MKII fuse and an unusual "spoon"
or safety lever. Spoons are normally reinforced by a groove which runs down
the middle. I've been told by knowledgeable sources that this is an early MKII safety
lever, but I'm inclined to think that it was just one that missed the groove-stamping process !
( The U.S. MKI fuse had an arming system that was somewhat flawed, and withdrawn
from service almost immediately. The re-designed MKII type of fuse was used until
sometime near the end of WWII. )

For your consideration...............
"Allen's Patent" is the only lettering on the piece, aside of the rather arthritic floral engraving. This was probably the smallest percussion pistol produced in the 1800's and would fall under the "Derringer" or "Muff pistol" category, as it is small enough to be hidden away in your hand, pocket or a ladies "muff" of the period.
I have only seen one other exactly like it, which is owned by a collector in my area.
To load this type of pistol you have to unscrew the barrel, put a measure of powder in, place a ball on that, and then screw the barrel back on - finishing with a percussion cap on top.

Here is a nice Smith & Wesson "New Model - 1 1/2". Today is it's sale date from the S&W factory.
I got it about 6 years ago at a militaria show. The previous owner requested information about it
from S&W, and they replied with a letter, now in my possession with the gun.
The revolver still has about 95% nickel plating.
It is a .32 rimfire with a 3 1/2 inch barrel and rosewood grips, which are mentioned in the letter.
They were made from 1868 until 1875, with 100,800 produced. This one was sold
on March 28 1874 to "R.H. Kilby Co. Montreal, Canada".
These are beautiful little pistols !

Looking far and wide for a stripped WSS or ASS visor as I have a great set of insignia that needs a home. Also, looking for a COMPLETE WSS Officers visor. Last but not least, a stripped WSS officer tunic that can pass the forum and experts. Thanks for looking !
