Hi guys,
Here's another very common fake 'font' to learn to recognize if you plan to buy any Erkennungsmarken- it's probably tied for most common with the crappy so-called "Rokas" type I posted in Dimas' thread above.
They're all capitals, and are serif letters, but they're not terribly well-formed. None is as distinctive as the 'a', 'r' and '3' of the "Rokas" set, but they're recognizable enough.
Here are numerous examples of discs using them- you can match individual letters among all three, which itself proves they're fakes since once more you should never find the exact same letters on discs from different units.
I know absolutely nothing about Bayos, so when a friend asked I thought it better to ask here.:D
The bayo is supposedly a private purchase and apart from the maker's mark it has no other markings, which I think is strange.
Please tell me if this is a genuine item or not so I can put Malcolm's mind at ease. To me it looks like an early pre-war one. Thank you.
Tom

Hey gang, a little teaser as I cannot post photos until tonight. Got lucky at the SOS yesterday. Picked up three Imperial/WW1 style M/N pouches. Two are late 30's converted to D-ring reverse for the new harness gear that became issue during that era. The third is an unconverted, 1936 dated pouch in near mint condition. Pictures soon, I promise.
Gentlemen,
just a pointer to an invaluable and hard to come by book currently on e bay, under the auction title ' the Imperial German Regimental marking - booklet, item number 360235829830. no bids at moment at £8.64p.....this book is by Jeff Noll, 78 pages, softback, has been out of print for some time now, difficult to find, invaluable to own, most if not all markings (arms, clothing, equipment,etc..) can be deciphered using the knowledge in this book. A must for the Imperial collector, not often seen on the market.
anyone know if the helmets which marked graves where just left there to rust after the units which burried the soldier left.?back in germany as u know many wore french and russian helmets with a nazi emblem,so german helmets where scarce
Sorry if this is an obvious question but why did some Schirmmutze have the springs removed for wear?
Cheers
Nick
Gentlemen hello!Need your help to identify this bayo, will be easy for you.Dimensions are approx:38.5 cm for the blade,13.5 for the handle, markings are:a sort of star/2837.
Thanks!!
I have never seen a chrome parade helmet but this claims is original! My uncle told me stories of them chroming german helmets back in the 1960's to sell to hot rodders and motorcycle riders:o( ..But i have my doubts that this is a real World War 2 helmet
