Hi,
been posting items for ID all evening and feel like Rolf Harris... 'Do you know what it is yet?'
Last one. Probably the strangest 'edged weapon' i've ever seen (not the axe:p). A few mates have had a geuss and between us we think we know what it might be...
marked '??? & Sons LTD (arrow) 1943.
This is a heavy item -look at the thickness of steel. Bevelled each side and at the end.
What do you reckon?
Serious answers- hold your fire or PM me, but we had a laugh with the theories so have a go if you don't know.:)
Jim.
One 1937 pattern signals bag with stainless steel fittings. Can't read a date- it is pretty grubby.
I'm pretty sure it's post war, but can anyone confirm this and tell me why it has steel fittings?
cheers,
jim.
Hi,
This is an unmarked, but almost certainly british (construction) leather case. It is made around an internal metal frame with base, and there is carboard between the frame and leather, as well as under the lid.
My best geuss was a magazine carrier, but there are no internal divisions- another site suggested a bespoke explosives carrier.
1960s wooden 303 ammo box behind it for scale.
Anyone know what it is?
cheers, jim.
Hi,
having looked through some old picture i think this is a 1920/30s British Flying Suit.
Does anyone know what type it is? the bloke who gave it to us thought it was a tank suit.
cheers, jim
Hi,
There was a metal detecting rally on part of Ramsbury Airfield (American 9th AF- 101st Airborne) and two of these turned up.
At first glance it looks like a nose cone to a bomb, but it was clearly NAILED, with brass pins, to something. The ferrule at the nose is stainless steel and attaches the whatever those workings are on the inside. There is also a broken lug or handle of some sort on the outside- wouldn't have done much for it's aerodynamics.
Zippo for scale (modern, but it was dug up!).
Anyone know what it is... even seen one before?
cheers,
Jim.
