Hello All,
Let's take a vote on which badges (abzeichen) represent the best investment. By best investment I mean their potential to either hold their value or increase in value.
Let's assume we're considering "high-end" pieces. For example, a 1939 EK 1 in its original case plus its original outter cardboard box. Absolutely mint.
It's very difficult to make a comprehensive poll so I've included those which seem to be the most popular.
PICK YOUR TOP (3) CHOICES!
Best Regards
Guys,
I was asked by Tony to show my Polish SD jacket on this forum, it is a bit of an enigma. It seems it has been "enhanced" by previous owners and I would like to bring it back to its original condition.
It is dated 31-5-1944 and named to Jan Rostworowski. In one of the pockets was a picture, to the back it reads:
the photograph served as a backing beneath the badge of the Warrant Officers Infantry and Motorized Cavalry School in Great Britain, the uniform probably belonged to 2nd Lt. Jan Rostwarowski.
The officer on the left in the picture has leather football buttons on his jacket so I presume Lt J. Rostwarowski is the officer on the right.
The PISM have found the following:
"There was a 2nd Lieutenant born 10-9-1919 Jan Maria Rostworoski who did serve in the Soldiers Welfare Section in the 4th Infantry Division, I Corps stationed in Scotland. He had previously served in the C-in-C's military office. He later studied in Edinburgh and served with the Polish Resettlement Corps before demobilisation."
When I recieved the jacket it had slip on shoulder rank straps, I have replaced them with proper stars; when I removed the slip ons the holes for the stars were visible.
I was advised on the Wehrmacht forum that the 8th Army shield was missing. Indeed it seemed some badge had previsouly been mounted on the right sleeve and I have sewn on a bullion *th Army patch.
Given the info from the PISM; what is your opinion on medal bars/insignia? What would be needed to bring it back in its original condition?
Thanks, Luc
I have a sword that I believe is Imperial German naval sword. There is no scabbard and the problem is, that it has no markings in it. Only number 38 and mark of the manufacturer - Alexander Coppel Solingen - I believe. The blade is acid etched naval motives. I vould be very thankful for any additional information about this.
(Sorry for the Re-post)
Hi Guys, this is my first post of what I hope to be many more.
I am an English teacher in Korea and I since living abroad I've become very interested in all things WWII. My 85 year old Grandfather is a WWII Navy vet that picked up a Katana and Arisaka rifle while in Okinawa from the Russians. He has some documentation on them both but I want to learn more.
I believe the Sword to be an officer's "Shin Gunto" sword, or I've seen others labeled as such that look similar. I have a friend in Japan that is trying to find out what the tag says, but if anyone else knows I'll gladly listen. What else can anyone tell me about this sword? I know it means a great deal to my "Pappa" and I'd love to tell him what I can find. thanks guys

Hello All,
This request is for information and items that will be used in the publication of a reference text regarding the Third Reich Armaments "war-machine."
I am conducting research of the Third Reich armaments establishment and how it was administered by the various ministries. This includes the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economics, Reichsbank and the Reichs Air Ministry (RLM). Many, many important questions and details remain an absolute mystery. This is extremely surprising considering the fact that armaments production involved millions of individuals and hundreds of military departments.
For example, how were badges and insignia designed, requisitioned and manufactured by the German military? How were they paid for? How were foreign-land manufacturing overtaken and administered by the German military? These are but a small number of questions to which I wish to obtain answers.
For now I am searching for WW1, interwar, and WW2 era armaments factory worker identification badges, pins and cloth insignia. Additionally, documents are particularly needed.
Of particular interest are items pertaining to Peenemunde, and especially Hemat Artillerie Park 11 - Karlshagen. Scientific-research organizations, such as Siemens to name but one, are also of great interest.
I hope to find collectors and dealers who are willing to share information, documents and badges. I will also purchase needed items.
The scope of this project can be immense since it involves so very many national organizations, private factories and untold numbers of individuals. Therefore, I can not complete it alone. To purchase all the items required to make a definitive reference text would cost many tens of thousands of dollars. In light of fact, I must rely upon the greater militaria community to share details and information pertaining to the rarest of items.
Here is a short list of items of interest:
Armaments Factiory Worker Identification Badges and Pins
Armaments Factory Worker Identification Documents
Uniforms
Insignia
Urkundes (promotion)
Decoration and insignia catalogs
Decoration and insignia sample boards
Photos of factory ID badges being worn
Photos of armaments production
Photos of Factories
Photo Albums
Items related to the Armorer's School located at Treptow, Berlin-Spandau
Items related to Peenemunde
Items related to Hemat Artillerie Park 11
U-Boat Dock Worker ID Badges
Military Installation IDs (depots, test facilities, etc.)
Third Reich Texts Pertaining to Armaments Production - especially those listing rules and regulations - like the NSDAP multi-volume policies & procedures
Production Posters
Personal Items
Anything Related
A very grateful Thank You in advance...
Hello All,
Just wondering how rare the Tyr Rune insignia is for graduates of HJ leadership school in Berlin. It's a simple insignia - just an arrow pointing upwards...Black, white, red.
Thanks
any comments on this pioneer 'haube? (other than wrong side cocarde and too bad about the c'strap, of course!)
these M1891/1895 (which is this?) nickel models seem a lot more in demand than the std. M15s or the earlier brass versions.
many thanks guys.
