Can anyone identify the unform, military unit, rank and decorations?. The photograph is of my Russian G.Grandfather pre-revolution.
Good evening all!
I have a very, very modest WWII collection and had a few "newbie" questions.
First I'd like to thank those who are responsible for this great resource to help out those of us who are far less educated in this area of militaria collecting. THANKS!!!
Anyway, back to the questions. I have 3 different Nazi awards with maker marks. I was wondering if someone could help me ID who made them?
First, I have a black wound badge marked "L/11".
Second, is a silver wound badge marked "92".
Lastly, is a Iron Cross, 2nd Class marked "67".
Thanks again and is there a a comprehensive reference on these?
Brian
PS I can post pics if it would help, except the Iron Cross b/c it's too small.
Lots of repros out there, so I thought I'd start a thread to post pictures of originals, which are seldom seen.
Here's an original 1920's cavalry pennon. This one is, I believe, the Squadron Commander's pennon from the 1st Squadron of the 6th Ulan Rgt. circa 1927.
Does anyone else have photos of originals in collections that they would like to share?
Hi guys , a question often asked my many of us when we get hold of a rusty or relic type lid is do ya clean it or leave it as it is , i personaly take each helmet in this condition on its merits .Heres one such lid i picked up from the states a few weeks back , i could make out the camo paint but thought a good clean would bring the colours back to life , so here she is before and after , i left the inside pretty much alone just soft brush to get surface rust off , cheers Raymond
Hello all,
I'm conserving a WW2 RAF Mk V Flare pistol which I believe was fired from inside the aircraft through a special portal. It has a lug on the left hand side of it's short barrel. I assume this is to correctly align it in the portal?
All I know is that it was found in Holland, and would appreciate any info about these signaling devices.
I'm enclosing a picture of it as found, but if anyone is interested I have pic's of the conservation project. I'm aiming to make it into an inert display piece showing the work involved during the restoration.
Cheers,
navyman.

Tovarischi;
I have two of the later (M-40 style) shinel (overcoat) with the straight cuff, but I would like to add the earlier style, with the peaked cuff. IIRC it is the model 30, or something (Please correct me if I have the model number wrong).
Can anyone direct me to a sutler who has, and sells the earlier style shinel?

Here is an Imperial German Flag of cotton construction. It measures approximately 6 ft. X 9 ft. and is of strong construction. Non-rotted condition, and only one of the fly ends showing wear from use. Each section is separately sewn - not printed. The double rope runs the full length of the hoist end and is quite strong. Some minor yellowing and a spot here and there but for this old...what do you expect. No mothing, at all...
This makes a nice backdrop if you use curtain rods or metal wall fasteners. This is how I had it displayed for the last 5 years.
I have included a photo of the flag in my study for reference.
