The picture below shows a few more relics from my most recent trip to the 34th Bomb Group B-24 crash site near Wattisham in Suffolk ...
It shows : the remains of a headset jackbox, a knob from an oxygen regulator, a small piece of the front of an oxygen regulator, 2 steel squares from the flack jackets worn by the crew, an unknown switch ... and the remains of 2 cycle chains;) .... well, no, actually these are two control linkages ....
All the best,
Gremlin
Hey there guys.
I've been handed a project of a costume where I need some oddball shoulderboard and I managed to find a supposed original on the web but I am looking for a reproduction of this style. It doesn't need be 100% perfect but I do need something close. I have found similar boards with less rows of piping in them readily available but thus far not this style. Most what I find have four rows not eight like what I need. Might anyone know where I can obtain a reproduction or the type cording/piping used to make these things . I only need one so these Pakistani guys who repro the stuff won't even talk to me about a single piece for one costume. If anyone has one or can steer me to a repro I would appreciate it. I'll attach a picture I found on the net of the supposed real one. Also does anyone know if these were also done in black and white besides the silver and black or am I being handed criteria that never existed as they want black and white on this costume? I could do these from scratch but darn it's an awful lot of work if I don't need to.
Thanks Eva

I got this bayonet when I was around 12, I'm 45 now. The blade is close to 19 inches long, it has the number 62978 on the handle and the blade has H.S. stamped into it, can anyone tell me more about this bayonet.
Hi guys,
Can any one give me a clue on the different colour combinations for the 1st Polish Parachute Brigade's collar kites?
i.e. grey with yellow top for rifle platoon,
is it maroon on a greeny-grey for medics?
And i'm after a little clarification?
Am I right in saying that the first kites had the parachutes (in white) and the top edge stitched onto one piece of material? i.e. yellow on grey for the rifles platoons,
and then from about 1943 it went to the metal paratroopers pinned onto the first colour which was backed by a 2nd piece of material?
Thanks Guys
Mark P.
Hi Guys,
This weekend I picked up some of the polish dog tags that I assume were issued to the troops formed under the British army,
Can Anyone help me work it out, I've had some help on another forum, but just thought I'd ask here,
As I've worked out/helped with I assume mine means the following;
A.P. - Assume Armia Polska?
1905 - Assume year of birth?
222/111(Could be III) - Have been told that would be the 222nd person with the surname starting with an S to join the 2nd set (111/III?)
SZPALINSKI - Surname obviously
WLADYSLAW - Forename
I have been told that III would relate to 2nd corps, can anyone tell me what all the possible denominations could be?
Thanks guys, hope someone can help
Mark P.
