I hate to plague this Board with Pre War / War-time pistol questions BUT I find the knowledge here to be a asset and quite honest.....
Question: I have Jan Still's "Axis Pistols" book but I can find no real mention of .22lr PP Walther in use by the German Military during the War. I know its a pretty rare bird, especially one that is so nice and pre War to boot (no import marks) and no post War markings. * The example I am looking at has all the right markings and is a very nice example BUT it has what looks like a lanyard "plug" in the bottom of the frame (mag well area).
Zella-Mehils; Crown N; high polish blue; 5.56mm/22lr; last digit of serial number is " P "; black plastic grips.
I really like the piece and feel it would be a nice collectible BUT this (lanyard loop hole) is bothering me. Can the Board please comment on this ? Ideas/advice/sugestions?
i picked these up today at a military show, the first helmet i have pictured i picked up 1 of em, and the other helmet i some how managed to buy 3 of them, they all have differnent buckles on the chinstraps, but i thought i figure out what type of helmets they are befor going any farther. if you need more detailed pics of anything let me know.... thanks for the help.
I bought this Blade today at an antique store. Some idiot polished it with a buffing wheel, but it looks like it could be worth having it professionally repolished, because it is definitely an original folded-steel blade. Even with the nearly "mirror" buffing it recieved, the grain is very obvious.
Although I don't know much about Japanese Blades, I do know this is not just a cut down NCO sword. My Grandpa has a "Type 98" that he brought home from the war, and while it has the Rayskin and cord wrapping, it is not a folded steel blade.
The Nakago has been cut off just past the Mekugi hole, so only part of the signature is left. I'm not sure if this blade was modified here in the US, or done in Japan. I would say the buffing was done by the antique dealer, but I don't see any reason why anyone would have cut off the back of the Nakago.
Can anybody tell me what I have, and whether its worth paying to have it professionally polished?
i think this early war penant is nskk or possible ss . looks to be for a vehicle . i'm i right ? i just bought the penant today at a local gun show .
Hi guys, I got these pieces in a trade years ago and was wondering about their authenticity. The collar tabs are a machine woven aluminum and green rayon with twisted aluminum piping. I've seen them referred to as "Protection Police" ( civil police ?) collar tabs & Schutzpolizei NCO tabs on various sites. The shoulderboards are made of the same green rayon material with fine silver thread on the braid. I believe these are in the rank of Meister, an NCO I suppose. Both have been described as typically being worn on the police M36 tunic through the end of the war. Both appear to be unissued. Are these possibly post war ? The synthetic material made skeptical although I know some were used. I'm putting together a small polizei display with a new visor, buckle & medal I just recently bought and I only want to use period items. thanks in advance for the help. Al.
Here is a Kriegsmetall Luftwaffe Beobachter Abzeichen from B and L. Any opinions needed, because I'am thinking about purchasing this badge for my collection. Unfortunately only that kind of pictures are available at the moment, if needed better pictures, I will ask about
