Its a Kollsman shark fin type 518-02,the mounting boom is
about 180cm (46inches) long,and although oxidized the
original paint light green primer, duck egg blue and dark earth,
still looks good.
It was an interesting auction, Meteor tank engine went for aud6.000
and a rare marinized liberty v12 went for aud 11.500.
Cheers Mike

Feldpost Number Reference………. Q?

Hello All,
Google has led me to your wonderful little corner of the world, which looks like the right place for many things.
I'm currently trying to research the history of 2cm Flak 38 which a museum has had in storage since the war.
It has the numbers 36876 on the upper right shield and on the back of the computer targetting assembly. It was captured in North Africa which hopefully helps reduce the possibilities a bit. The museum has very little information on the piece otherwise.
Reading over some of the posts regarding Feldpost numbers, I've seen Adrian, John, Lars etc quote some quite specific information. What sources are you using for this? Is there any literature, websites or otherwise that you could possibly direct me towards?
Thanks in advance for any light anyone might shed on this and I look forward to contributing wherever possible within my very limited scope.
Cheers
Allan

For sale: Battle of the Bulge WW2 German Helmet

I am selling a WW2 German helmet that's been in our family for generations. I am attaching a photo of it (I have others available) as well as the following write up.

My late uncle brought this German helmet back from valiantly fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. He gave it to our
family and we've had it ever since. I did some research and I know its from the German Air Force (Luftwaffe) . It sports on one side the second design of the "drooping" eagle with the swastika logo.

This is an original German helmet that is 100% original and unmessed with. The way it came to us is the way it remained for over 60 years. It has not been varnished or cleaned up in any way. Considering the helmet saw conflict it is in pretty remarkable shape. As near as I can see it is not bent up.

Like I said, the one side of the helmet is the decal of an eagle ("drooping") and swastika logo. On the other, there is the remnant of some kind of paper marking that is long since gone.

I don't know alot about military items but I can say that there are two imprints on the inside rim of the helmet - 1574 and ET62.

While the leather liner is still intact and affixed, the chin strap is no longer with it. However, both clips are still attached and the side that doesn't buckle still has a bit of leather fastener left to it.

When looking closely at the inside liner, one area of is darken with what appears to be a deep blood stain. While I can't vouch for it, I know my uncle brought it back from the battlefield so the soldier likely lost his life and the stain is the result of his final hours.

I would like this war relic to go to someone who can appreciate and respect its historical significance.

Please contact me with any questions. Thanks!
