Hi everybody
I found this picture in an old magazine...
It was taken near Falaise area just after the end of the fighing.
Just awesome...
I also posted a thread this helmet over on wehrmacht-awards, but thought i would get your guys thoughts on it also. I also asked a question in the restore thread as to whether i should leave it alone or try to restore it, for now it's going to stay the same inless i learn about a good way to restore/fix it up with out damaging the paint and decal.
Helmet is a M42 with what i think is slate gray? I don't know the maker because it's to rusted. The wierd thing that i dont get with the helmet is there's an exit hole in the back but on the brim there's what looks to be the entrance hole but the metal it peeled up, if it was the bullet going from the front to the back wouldn't it be peeled down. Thanks for any help
gents -
here is most excellent 2nd pattern War Flag. stunning condition, no fading, corner reinforcements, late "orangey" color, double-sided, perfect hemp rope and batting. to me, a one-look, one-feel (and one-whiff!) original.
but I'm puzzled by three things really: no markings are present on the edge, not even the remnants. was this an "ooops" moment for the maker, when it was taken off the proddy line to salvage the cotton, forgotten, then souvenir'd by an allied soldier? or were size marks just not that important after, say, late '42?
also, as seen in one of these pix, there isn't much reinforcement on the end. some I've seen have five or six adjacent stitch lines
on the end - and the sides. as well, on mine the edges aren't bound; there's just a slightly raised area were the field stops and were the material is a bit thicker to the touch (tho not really to the eye.) tho maybe I'm missing a tiny construction detail. there's a printing defect: a 2-inch red area has "bled" into one of the white rays. loastly, there's an equally tiny "pull" or two that seem to have been repaired
right. anyway, here are detail pix. later, assuming I'm not laffed out of class I'll try to make room and shoot the big-uns.
thanks for all commentary! david

I bought a child's armband a while ago on the e-stand and it never arrived. What we think is that it was stolen in the mail. So, if anybody sees it please let me know, it has quite distinctive holes on one side. Thanks Matt
I need some opinions about this badge. It seems ok to me but I'd like to have yours opinions too.
Thanks
I'm negociating this badge, but I'm not familiarized with this item. I'll be glad to have your opinions about it.
Thanks
Hi Guys, another new one for my collection and Kriegsmarine dagger number 4 for me:)
A plain blade was an option open to Kriegsmarine Officers when they purchased a dagger. Most opted for the conventional etched blade with fouled anchor design. As a result, the cheaper plain blade is now harder to find. The dagger has no makers mark either.
This dagger is in nice overall condition, just the original gilt wash to the fittings is now gone, which tends to be usual, due to polishing over the years.
The original red felt buffer washer is still in place.
Cheers, Ade.
Another new buy. Sadly this one is missing a scabbard. It is a RZM marked dagger. The crossguard fittings are still the earlier solid nickle ones and not the later zinc plated type.
The maker is RZM M7/73. (F u. A. Helbing, Steinbach) The etch is very light, so I am having a hard time trying to photograph it. Note the style of RZM logo used by this maker. The quality of their work was not brilliant.
Cheers, Ade.
