P.O.W, Diaries

Hi ,
A relative of my son in law died a couple of years ago the family has found his diaries from when he was a P.O.W, in Poland.
He was captured 1940, before Dunkurk at Amiens and the tropps were taken to Poland. He was moved to different stalags through the war. He was Pte Ken Harper D.C.L.I, B.E.F, his diaries show the camps and a lot of info that went on there. I have the privilege
to help and copy the work we are documenting it for the family and i will have a copy for my self. I have posted some pics of the dairies and his P.O.W, tags from stalag XX1.B No, 1126.
Also the addresses of the camps he was in, as we progress i can post more info. hpe you like it.

Excellent tool for relic collectors

Hi all

I think many of you are a bit like me.......avidly collect relics but sometimes get stumped about what a relic actually is. This is certainly true of a lot of items which, with a decent measuring device, you could positively identify something rather than have to guess.

So, whilst I don't normally like advertising for large multiples (they make enough money without me helping them), the following tool was purchased from Aldi for £6.99. If you have one near you, go get one fast !!!

Here it is ..........

And now for the tool in action.

A .50 calibre bullet.

A .303.........

And now what I always thought was a .303 but it turns out to be a German 7.92mm !!!

You can also measure the 'inside' diameter of things....

.....like these cartridges....

...and the outside of cartridges to !

A handy little tool...comes with 2 free batteries !

:D :D :D

Remembrance profiles research

By way of introduction, I serve as the Family Remembrance Assistance and WW1 Veterans Profile Assistance Advisor for Air Force: Together We Served, one of 5 branch-dedicated TWS sites restricted to military veterans and their immediate family.

Our most important purpose is non-commercial preservation and study of American military aviators and USAF aviation history from WW1-Present.

In that effort several members work daily producing Remembrance profiles which go into great detail about the particulars of an airman's life. Here is an example:

United States Air Force - Together We Served

War Relics Forum members who are or were airmen are invited to register, and to participate in that research effort. Members who served in the other branches may also register accordingly.

I have registered here so as to learn whatever is possible in support of sustaining accurate and complete Air Force history as evidenced by its participants and artifacts.

Big Japanese Collection

Thought I would share a recent find... Old box in attic, you know the story...Six flags total, one not pictured has many small holes in it. 60+ Imperial Notes, most like new, rarest still in VG condition. I actually have the pictures of the captured items, plus a whole album of pictures from the taking of Tarawa and Saipan. Also a small notebook with Gen Saito's translated last letter, and the military typed out translation of it also. All brought back by G'pa (Stepgrandpa).. Also have one pair of the binoculars shown in the old pic of captured stuff..

And due to medical conditions and BIG bills, must sell....

Question Military Shops in DDay/Arras areas ?

Afternoon Guys, hope everyone is well.
I have some friends going over to Arras then back up to Bayeaux to check out the DDay beaches and they were asking me if I knew of anywhere they could buy relics. Not been there myself so does anyone know of any shops or mueseums in either areas which sell stuff ? Your help appreciated...
All the best
