I just bought an M40 Luft helmet from a dealer & I'm concerned about the decal. The eagle looks good in every aspect but I have nothing to compare it to other than photo's. In fact the decal looks similar to two fakes I have. My concern is how the outline actually looks like a water transfer type decal. Under certain lighting you can see an opaque finish over the eagle. Is this normal ? I took a few photo's but what I describe doesn't appear in the photo's. On my my m42 heer the decal is metallic and looks nothing like a decal. On my Civil police helmets they also don't give an appearance of an applied decal. I'm so skeptical of everything that even real items are bugging me. Am I paranoid or do you see anything incorrect about the decal ? Thanks in advance for any input. Al.
Hello
I was thinking about buying this helmet and I really want to know if it is authentic or not? Also what are these helmets generally worth and what is good price to pay? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank-you
As some of you know, I am really a Kriegsmarine collector at heart. Attached are photos of my favorite Jr. Officer's visor:

As promised ... below are some more pictures of relics recovered from the site of the P-51 / P-47 collision which occurred over very dense woodland close to the 353rd Fighter Group base at Raydon (Although the aircraft concerned actually came from Martlesham Heath and Boxted ... )
First is a picture of Lt. Slanker's oxygen mask & oxygen mask clip (I'm fairly sure this belonged to Slanker as it was found within the main body of P-51 debris within the woods.
Second photo shows the emergency release handle for the cockpit canopy.
The next picture shows the pitot tube (made by Kollsman) from the P-47. This aircraft was flown by Lt. Lightfoot.
The final picture shows whats left of one of the cylinders from the P-47 ...
I just won this on ebay and was wondering about the cockade (I've never saw one like this before) and the year of this hat.
I bought it for Soviet Reenacting so I was not concerned about it being original but now I'm intrigued with what this really is.
My thought is it's a euro movie prop. the colors are that of Infantry NCO or Officer.
I know it's euro because of the 57 size stamp inside.
Could it be a 1945 Victory parade cap?
Please anyone with knowledge of Soviet caps help!
bolshoe spasibo!

PS
Also it has a funny story that I'm not sure about:,It reads:
WW II Soviet Cap Traded For Cigarettes
A small Russian military hat from World War 2 that was traded by a Nebraska soldier for cigarettes . It was brought back by that G.I to his home and put away while he returned to civilian life. It is a khaki felt on top with a maroon bottom insert with a red hammer and sickle metal button . It is wonderful shape no holes and a size 57
I purchased this hat from an elderly widow who said her late husband had obtained this while working in counter intelligence. She could not remember exactly when but thought it was one of the items he traded for during WWII. I have no reason to think she was trying to deceive me but if she was mistaken, I would not know as I know nothing about military items
